Where to put eyes during osu mania/how much does it affect play.

Hello, when I play I think I look somewhere like 1/3 up the screen and I think I focus on the notes instead of staring at a specific part of the screen. I know it's recommended to stare at around 1/2 up the screen and focus eyes on judgements/combo counter, but when I try to do this, it feels like my eyes are no longer focused on the notes. I can still play but I cant read dense patterns and often misread since it's like a bit blurry. Does anyone else experience this, should I just practice staring at my judgements and I'll eventually become used to it? And how much of a negative effect does not staring at one part of the screen impact reading?

This is mostly 7k play btw if the wider screen matters (my skin - yugen has pretty thin lanes though). Also I use bar skin

1/3 is ok dependinf on which way.

if its 1/3 with eyes closwe to receptors thats bad, if 1/3 bur far from receptors its pretty good. when ppl say the middle of screen they mean the middle or above. if you wanna adjust to a different positioning for gaze in reading you gotta go right to that point BUT play 1 stars and focus on hitting accuratly as possible, if 1 stars are too hard to do accuratly go below that. once you can acc easier songs, try doing your normal songs with new reading as moving reading position doesnt reallt change much abt fingers just the sorta delay so once you hit accuratly 1 stars while reading at whatever position it should apply to harder. if, for some reason, you cant immediately do hard stuff just do slightly harder stuff and take your time

I focus on where the buttons are most of the time. If the map is stream heavy, I start looking at the middle.

Yeah I guess you should play more find your comfort zone.

But do you know how bad it is if im looking 1/3 close to receptors? Like will it affect my reading in the long term, is there any evidence? I just want to know how urgent it is for me to switch it up.

U read the notes falling. Not stare the combo counter.

Atleast with standard column width. Looking somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 up is a good bet. If u looking at 1/3, u probably need to increase the scrollspeed.

With wide lanes, it's probably different. Never played wide so idk.

Draces pinned guide to mania has got a section on horizontal vs vertical reading. It's a bit scuffed with all the broken images but roughly speaking, atleast for me. 'Horizontal' reading I tend to look about 1/2 up, usually good for chords + rice. 'Vertical' reading I tend to look about 2/3 up, usually good for LN + stream

i think its important to adjust, its not hard too. higher up is better as it gives your brain better chance to sorta react before moving as it gives more of a chance to time inputs. basically youre going from reacting to reacting but easier
