I'd like to suggest a new game mode idea that could add a fresh competitive layer to osu!: a Ranked Mode.
The idea can be approached in two possible ways:
1. Player vs Player (or more) Competitive Ranking:
Players are matched against others with similar ranks in real time or asynchronously.
In a match, multiple players play the same beatmap simultaneously, and their scores are compared.
The top players gain ranked points based on performance, while lower-ranked players lose some.
Ranks could be divided into tiers such as Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, etc., to give players a clear sense of progression and competitiveness.
This would add a fun, competitive edge similar to ranked systems in other games, encouraging players to improve.
2. Solo Challenge Ranked Mode:
Players can queue into specially-designed beatmaps created by the osu! team or the community.
These maps would be filled with high-difficulty elements such as jacks, tech, speed bursts, and stamina challenges.
The system would track performance and adjust a player's rank accordingly.
This mode could motivate more focused play and give players a new goal outside of just improving their pp or leaderboard scores.
Thanks for taking the time to read my idea — I really appreciate all the work the team does for osu!, and I hope this concept sparks some interest!
Best regards,
