Why is near diagonal flow not used in generic mapping?

More of a shower thought. Why are sliders and the flow overall is rarely near 45 degrees and instead rotation closer to the perpendicular direction is chosen? To demonstrate what I mean, I got some 45 degree sliders (couldn't find patterns lol) used in more modern maps below:

Why are those so rare in non-esoteric maps? Are they uncomfortable to play or are they just hard to map around?

lemme guess, just aesthetic reason.

there's nothing wrong with adding a perfectly diagonal slider, but it have to be coherent with the rest of the concept/pattern, and ppl just found 15/30/60 degree significantly easier to do so.

Mappers do infact do this.

If i were to guess about why its not seen as much in generic mapping is because they don't transition their patterns diagonally instead being either up down left or right.

because it requires more thought than the bare minimum
