The Tradition Continues

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • What is Balkan Chibi Cup 2025?
  1. Balkan Chibi Cup 2025 (OBChibi) is a 2v2, TS2, double elimination, regional osu! tournament designed for lower ranked players from the Balkan region, with a rank requirement of #7,500 or higher (using BWS).
It is a continuation of the annual OBC which had a lower tier called OBChibi. This year however we decided to expand to all the Balkan countries since previously it was only ex-Yugo countries. You might also notice the rank limit is pretty low and that is mainly because there was no OBC this year so the tournament isn't meant so much for only the lower tier players but also kind of mid tier.
  2. All coordination will happen via the official Discord server and any other information will be provided on the tournament sheet.

REGISTRATION & REQUIREMENTS

  • To register your osu! profile must have a flag from one of the following Balkan countries:
  1. Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro,
North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia
  2. Players that have played in previous OBC tournaments are also eligible to play regardless of country flag since they proved their residence.

Players ranked #7,500 or higher (#7.5k - ∞)(using BWS) are allowed to participate.
If your rank is outside of the rank range when the registrations end you will fail to meet these requirements and will most likely not be allowed to play.

Staff cannot participate unless they are a commentator, streamer or GFX artist.

We reserve the right to decline players from participating in the tournament (this could be for balance reasons (derankers/inactive players) or for example bad behavior).

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

  • Tournament Structure:
  1. Group Stage → Quarterfinals → Semifinals → Finals → Grand Finals

    Draft Format explained
Every player will sign up individually and then play the qualifiers (also individually).

After the results the players will be sorted into two tiers of skill based on their qualifier performance.

    Total players: 64 or more
  2. Tier 1: Seeds 1-32
  3. Tier 2: Seeds 33-64
If there are fewer than 64 players, the tier sizes will be adjusted accordingly.

Tier 1 players will be the captains and will choose a player from Tier 2.

Staff may move players between tiers to help keep teams balanced (for example, if someone performed unusually well or poorly in qualifiers).

Teams will be given the choice to choose their team name and transfer the captain role if desired in the week between the draft and the first round of matches.

    Group Stage:
Teams will be randomly put into groups of 4 but each team in the group will represent a corresponding skill level (4 different skill levels of teams in one group based on qualifier performances).
Seeds for teams might be calculated based on solo performances to approximate team skill.

Each team will play every other team in their group (Round Robin).

More info can be found on the Information & Rules sheet.

RULES & MATCH PROCEDURES

  1. Warmups: Allowed, but limited to 4 minutes.
  2. Match Process: Rolls > Bans > Picks. First roll of corresponding team gets to pick ban or pick order, loser gets the other one.

  6. Disconnects: Disconnects within 30 seconds of the map may be replayed. For post-30-second disconnects, proof (replay, screenshot, recording) is required.

technically a small part of romania is on the Balkan peninsula, but that doesn't mean the whole country is a ‘balkan country’. culturally, historically, and even linguistically, romania is way more connected to latin Europe than to the balkans. Just because google says it’s in the Balkans doesn’t mean that’s the full story."

Yes, Romania is partially balkan geographically, only the southern part actually classifies as balkan, so yes, its not fully balkan if we go by strict geography. Culturally and historically, Romania has had plenty of interaction and shared experiences with balkan countries. That said, it is true that Romania leans more towards central and latin europe in terms of language, culture, and overall identity. But the important thing here isnt whether Romania is fully balkan or not, its if it makes sense to include Romania in this tournament, and i think the answer is obviously yes.
We already had BAC this year where Romania was not included at first, and people pointed it out so it ended up being added later, so thats even more reason not to exclude them now. At the end of the day, this is an osu tournament so no point arguing about whether Romania is balkan or not.

We are here to have fun, compete, and encourage a regional community, not gatekeep based on technicalities.
