If your only intent in commenting on this thread is to spread negativity, I highly advice you not to do that any further.

There's plenty of other ""unecessary"" (in the way video games are "unecessary" for existance) celebratory days/months like mother's/father's day, or veteran's month or what have you that plenty of people do care about. Humans are social creatures and benefit from having ways to connect and socialise with others and these holidays provide a means to foster that kind of community. They can also provide an easy conversation starter in the case of more informational days/months, even if they aren't "necessary" for spreading that information. Pride month, much like these other special dates, is meant to celebrate and acknowledge queer history and community, and serves to keep queer people visible while current governing bodies seek to strip their rights or refuse to provide them.

The Stonewall riots, which pride month spawned from, were only 56 years ago. Queer people were placed in Nazi concentration camps during WWII. The AIDS epidemic started in the 80s. Many trans people (trans women particularly) were framed as having a fetishistic disorder in papers published between the 80s and 90s. Homosexuality was only removed from the DSM in 1973, and in the UK had only been *partly* decriminalised in 1967 (fully by 2013). As you might've realised, there are people still alive from before and during these times. These people carry the memories of friends and family who died due to the neglect and persecution of these times. These are not distant events. Circumstances are far from perfect now and can very well get worse.

It's not really cool and subversive (or a nice and respectful take) to ignore the reality of what has and is happening, for the sake of defending a status quo or not. It is very strange to say pride month shouldn't exist just because you personally don't like or care for it. If you really mean you just don't like it, then you should say that instead.
