Personal argument: Osu Tiktok (and other short video platforms) is sometimes cringe

(Note: No hate on what I'm talking about. Some Osu short video accounts like for example osuDaily, osuClips, osuToday are actually interesting)

Most of the time when an Osu short video appears on my feed/fyp, it's some guy playing a beatmap/"shitmap" of a meme or a trending song that has a strategic easy (or easily memorizable) pattern to impress randoms. First time when I saw one I was like "ok, not bad" but then throughout the time I've been stumbling across this kind of Osu content was starting to look repetitive and I started thinking "oh no, content farming"

If you have anything to say against what I've said, feel free, go ahead if you would like. I'm just expressing my personal thoughts about it.

i think its almost always cringe, overall i agree
another problem is that this clips on 4* meme maps get millions of views while mrekk playing unranked jashin or dting arles map get like 60k views

Create better content to counter it! Or browse on another platform (I only post anything osu! on YouTube).

that's true! I saw a lot of terrible osu shorts and they were using trending songs as content farm and I think it sucks.

at least actually make funny sh posts instead of a random graveyarded map of a trending song.

These huge jumps are usually something you can impress randoms with, they probably look "the most hard". And if it gives views there will always be content about exactly that
If they decide to play osu! after watching this they will probably notice sooner or later :D

idk maybe I'm over-exaggerating and jealous because my setup is pretty terrible for an osu player

I also used to make shposts about osu and uhhhhh...

I agree with that but also this shorts and tiktoks are free advertising for the game and make more people come to play it, and that's a very positive thing.

I agree that they're probably a net positive for the game overall. Objectively, they're harmless. However, I'm not beyond admitting that my initial visceral reaction to seeing them is "Why does this have twenty million views? This is nothing for a highly skilled player, I could get on and do this right now if I weren't so lazy." It's just a natural reaction to seeing somebody in your discipline get praise disproportionate to their skill/achievements.

I used to post my old top plays but nobody cares, I think people who post "aesthetic" osu videos are just looking for more views and to make themselves known. Plus, it's a good way to make osu known to people who don't know yet even if it doesn't really reflect reality.

Exactly. Just slap an anime background + video w/ 20% bg dim and play some weak aas jumpy map.
