Hi everyone! This is a forum post to publicilly announce poolingcore, a mappooling community for tournament staff. Currently, it's being managed by Dada, AR9, and chiv, with lots of help from many other active staff members in the tournament scene!

The target audience of the project is the 1-10K osu! mappooling scene, but we're looking towards helping other rank ranges and game modes in the future.

Mappooling Discussion

poolingcore's primary function is to provide a space for mappoolers of all skill levels to discuss anything related to mappooling and to give newcomers a way to learn and make connections within the scene. Mappoolers can receive constructive feedback on their mappooling, ask for help with regards to skillset balancing and definitions, and discuss unique mappooling concepts.

Mappooling Resource Hub

poolingcore has a collection of mappooling resources available to all members. Our goal is to maintain lists of valuable tools and resources for the community including guides, collections, and applications that can help increase a mappooler's library and overall mappooling knowledge. Developing new applications and databases is part of this goal to ensure that mappoolers have all the resources they need at their disposal.

Staff & Host Collaboration

poolingcore provides a way for mappoolers and tournament hosts to find each other. We strive to help mappoolers build their experience and connections to land spots in major projects. Similarly, this helps tournaments have a healthy amount of quality staff to choose from. Playtesters and mappers are included in this aspect too!

To ensure that the community is aware of other members' experience levels, server administration manually reviews new members before applying certain roles. For example, mappooling staff must have a badged tournament staffing experience before being assigned the "Verified Pooler" role. Roles like Verified Pooler, Host, Mapper, and Playtester can all be found with their individual requirements in the server's #roles channel.

Contests, Puzzles, and Minigames

Mappooling is meant to be fun! Therefore, we plan to host games and activities that allow mappoolers to work on their craft without being tied to a tournament or other significant commitments.

As this forum post comes out, we are simultaneously launching our first mappooling contest in the server! Mappoolers can submit their own pool under the specific theme and see how it holds up against submissions from other members.
