My listening to music doesn't feel as good...?

So I had a 3-week long break followed by infrequent playing of this game and other rhythm games, so I'm very rusty right now. I do think I'll get back to normal eventually, though I do have a concern.
Long story short, I feel like my ability to listen to the song is really, really unsatisfactory. Like yea I'm going to suck in many areas but that one is where I feel unsettlingly off. Is it because my accuracy sucks more or because my speed sucks more or pattern recognition sucks more, and all that therefore makes me feel disconnected? But even when I was peaking, I did feel I was slightly less focused on the song as patterns got harder, and it's definitely rubbing on now.
I'm wondering if there's anything I should do about that other than give it a few days or weeks. I'm just kinda worried that I'm going to keep practicing the way I am and eventually feel like something is wrong the entire time I play.

You aren't? Like, yea I know there's a bunch of dump maps and a certain few that just don't sound like there's even any drums backing them up, but the astronomically large majority are very faithful to the sounds of the song. It's like my third biggest timming guide when doing LN and my biggest for SV and JS/HS, though that's not why I asked this question.
I'm more concerned over the hearing aspect of it since songs used to ring(?) in my ears better and that allows me to tap better also. I would not be surprised if it is just me being bad at tapping disconnecting me with the song. That's just a matter of time.

Everytime I've de-rusted, it took a while to get back in the groove of everything. That includes you're listening skills and the tapping feeling disconnected. As long as you aren't rushing into the hardstuff then you'll be fine.

I always liked trying to visualize the music as the notes falling down on the screen. Sometimes it helps connect some patterns with certain parts of the music. And sometimes I find, you vaguely anticipate whats coming up next based on the music and mapping. It might be useful for ya, it might not.
