THE PINKY BRACKET

...is a 10K osu!mania 1v1 double-elimination tournament. This is the spiritual successor to the original, much more informal 10K Tournament that ran in 2021 but didn't quite make it to 2022. The mappools feature a wide range of difficulty, going down to 1-star territory in the first round to encourage all you beginners to dip your toes, but ramps up stage-by-stage to put on more of a show towards the end. We want to put a spotlight on the niche keymode because 10K very much isn't dead, but has a small, yet active and growing community.

Should The Pinky Bracket prove a fun and successful showcase of the world of 10K mania, we hope to make this into an annual event and come back with more bangers in 2024!

Rules
General

1 vs 1 Double Elimination

No signup limit, however, only the top 32 players from the Qualifier stage will advance to the Bracket stage.
No registration restrictions. All staff are allowed to compete (see footnote 1).

Stages

7 Stages: Qualifiers, Round of 32, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Finals, and Grand Finals.
Win conditions:
1. All stages that use mappools 1, 2, and 3 are Best of 7 (First to 4).
2. All stages that use mappools 4 and 5 are Best of 9 (First to 5).

Mappools

See this visual for how the mappools are distributed among the stages.
Mappools consist of 5 map types: BMS (derived from 10K2S and 14K2S → 10K BMS converts), RC (rice), HB (hybrid), LN (long note), and TB (tiebreaker).
All the mappools are available for viewing under the "Mappool" tab in the Main Sheet.

Qualifiers

Players will run their own qualifier lobbies.
How to run your qualifier lobby:
1. Run the command "!mp make TPB: [Your osu! name] Qualifers"
2. Set the Win Condition to ScoreV2.
3. Play each qualifier map in the order that they are listed in the main sheet (the match can be started with the command "!mp start")
4. Once all the qualifier maps have been played, obtain the lobby link from BanchoBot and submit it through the qualifier form.
A player can resubmit qualifiers for better seeding if they wish, only their latest submission will be used for seeding.

Match Procedure

A private lobby will be created and players will be invited 10-15 minutes prior to the match start time with the format "TPB: [Player 1] vs [Player 2]"
If one player is late, they have a maximum of 15 minutes to join, otherwise, the player present will win by default.
If both players are late, the higher seeded player will decide whether they want to reschedule or win by default. If rescheduling isn't possible, they will win by default.
Both players will be allowed one warmup map each with a maximum length of 3 minutes.
Alternatively the players can agree to play one warmup map total with a maximum length of 7 minutes.
Players will !roll. Roll winner gets choice of first ban or first pick (ABBA format).
Should a roll result in a tie, both players will reroll.
Players will have 90 seconds to announce their bans, 90 seconds to announce their picks, and 90 seconds to get ready.
If a player fails to ban within the time limit, the match will go on without that player's ban. If a player fails to pick within the time limit, the referee will pick a map at random. If a player fails to get ready within the time limit, the match will start anyway.
If a player disconnects during a map, they will lose the pick, unless they disconnected before 30 seconds or 1 quarter into the map (whichever comes first), in which case the map will be replayed.
If a player leaves the lobby, they will be given 5 minutes to rejoin, otherwise they will lose the match.
Failed scores will count.
Should a pick result in a draw, the map will be replayed.
Not every match can be streamed as there won't always be a streamer available, but we'll try our best!
For the sake of relaxing load on staff and minimizing scheduling conflicts, the Ro32 and Loser's Ro16 will be mostly self-reffed to get them done with right away. We will try to stream some of these matches.

Prizes
1st Place: $50 (USD) through PayPal AND 6 months osu!supporter.
2nd Place: $25 (USD) through PayPal AND 3 months osu!supporter.
3rd Place: 3 months osu!supporter.

If you win a cash prize and PayPal is not available to you, we'll try to figure out a different way to distribute the prize money.

Footnote 1: Because all staff are allowed to compete (including host and mappoolers), they will be prize-banned as it would be unfair for them to win prizes when they were involved in the organization of the tournament. If there are staff members in the top three by the end of the tournament, additional placement matches will be held to decide how to distribute the prizes. Details on how those will be carried out will come out later into the tournament.
