I play on a laptop, and usually osu runs fine on unlimited.
There are a few occurences where I leave my laptop running, and osu would suddenly cap at 60fps.
It's pretty much a guarantee if I put my laptop to sleep, and re-open it, osu would then again be capped at 60fps.
It's not too much of a problem, as I just have to restart my laptop, but it's quite a hassle.
A few things:
It does not cap if I take off fullscreen.
I don't use Vsync.
I run osu on my Nvidia Graphics Processor.
I use Windows 10.
This started around 5 months ago (Very rough estimate), but I just didn't mind it until now.
Edit:
Interestingly, I have a key on my laptop that toggles my touchpad on my laptop. Each time I toggle it, fps get's uncapped for a brief moment, then it goes straight back to 60fps.
