Quick question. If we ran out of rubber in the world but still made rubber ducks but out of rubber like material, would we still call them rubber ducks???

Yes, we would. Even though Theodore Roosevelt is dead, Teddy bears are still named after him; similarly, we would still call non-rubber rubber ducks "rubber ducks" because they are already named that.
