Currently the rule about unused files is this:

quote wrote:

There must not be any unused files or 0-byte files in the map's folder. 0-byte files prevent other files in a map's folder from properly uploading. An automatically generated .osb file and storyboard .thumb files are the only exceptions.
However, the website has been updated to properly display an icon for maps which have .osb files, and will display them when using the "has storyboard" search filter.

This means unused .osb for a map without a sb = false positive on the website that the map has a storyboard.
This would be misleading and meh, imagine finding a map, thinking "oh boy it's gonna have a storyboard" only for there to be literally nothing.

sometimes these things add like 2 mb to a folder so them duping can cause actual damage, agree.
