What is the difference between Approved and Ranked Beatmaps

What is the difference between Approved and Ranked Beatmaps?

I see some maps that are Approved which are single difs <5min long that are worth pp, but other maps that are also approved are not worth pp. Can someone explain plz?

Also is the process of getting a beatmap approved the same as getting one ranked? If not what is the difference?

approved is a "marathon" in the old days. somehow its stop updating and now it blends with the ranked section.

Approval with <5 mins were maps that are regulated under the old Ranking Criteria, iirc it says only maps that goes 20 million scores with no mod could've entered the approval and thus only needs a single difficulty. now,the new ranking criteria states that marathon only applies for song that are 5 minutes or above

Idk what are you talking about "worth no PP". all maps within ranked and approval should award PP, except for TAG4 maps, and loved section.

Approved (or marathon) and Ranked undergoes the same system. The only differences between them is that ranked requires "Spread" whilst marathon may require only one diffs.
