First of all, I've never beatmapped before, but I'd love to know enough basics even just to make an easy or normal difficulty map.

I just got back from my closest teacher's funeral. One of my classmates found one of the songs that played there, so I immediately went to find it on osu!. I found a beatmap, but it's very old and pretty hard to play because of the mapping. (https://osu.ppy.sh/s/7889)
If it's possible, I'd like to be able to remap it, but I have no idea how to even get around the editor.
If anyone could help me around even just a little, I'd be ever so grateful. Thanks in advance.
