On February 23rd at 6 pm UTC, The Beacon Discord server will be hosting an event for OSU! Tournament for people in NA and EU servers. All skill levels are welcome. Prizes will be handed out to winners of the event as well.

Players can choose to represent a country to represent as they compete in a series of maps. More information will be found on the discord server. It's recommended to join the server a day before the event.

---------------------------------------What is The Beacon?------------------------------------------

The Beacon is a Discord Gaming Community, with the goal of bringing people from all over the world together to talk, have fun, and play games! We're currently 6 months old with over 1000 members, and are still looking for new, laid back, and open-minded people to play with!

Besides OSU! we have people playing Overwatch, PUBG, Paladins, Destiny 2, Fortnite, Rainbow 6, and many others!

------------------------------Requirements------------------------------

Be 16+
Speak English (Not necessarily naively, we also have people who are still learning English!)
Have Discord

As I mentioned before, we also have many other events going on from time to time, like our recent Overwatch, and Movie Event (The Incredibles), as well as some out-of-game events, Anime Nights, Karaoke Nights, and even Art Events like our Inkbeacon event, where you can submit your text or artworks based on a given theme!

several asks because this weird af

Who is making the mappool? I pray you guys have experienced players, because someone with 2 hours of gameplay isn't exactly going to be the best pooler.

What is the rank limits/recommended rank? This seems like a novice tourney run by new players so I wouldn't recommend trying to gauge a 5 digit-1 digit's skill level.

What score version is it?

What are the rules????

Why would you even bother adding a age limit? This isn't a game where you should be caring about age to gauge playability, considering a large amount of the (skilled) playerbase (assuming skilled players are below 15k) is below 16. It's a preference sure, but you're going to cut a large amount of the group that would be willing to sign up for your group.

Have any of you even judged any osu! tournaments before? Before hosting your own tourney it is incredibly recommended to at least try judging for another tournament.

overall the info in this post is severly lacking, i'd recommend writing out more and less advertising your own server LUL

here's a good example of a tourney post: t/703678

I'm playing as I'm typing this and I can tell you, I think it's just a server advert lol. There's not any sort of rules, besides "not talking in the discord while the map plays", the scoring is v2 and this is what the lobby looks like: https://osu.ppy.sh/community/matches/40317198 (this room crashed after the last map ended) and the current one; https://osu.ppy.sh/community/matches/40318663 . Just a poorly constructed tournament without any rules and the hosts have no idea what they are doing.
