Do you think Geometry Dash is a proper rhythm game highly based on music?

Some of the maps the community make are synced to music. Other than that, it's not really a rhythm game, but it's a rhythm game at the same time.

Really, it's about how you define the word rhythm.
Bloom
Well no. You can play just as effective without the music.

The music is just there to fill the silence.

Yes.

it's about as much as a rhythm game as CtB, while it's synced to thew music it still isn't really the same thing
abraker
If it is, its timing windows are as hard as taiko with HR
hownottorekt
no.
yea
I consider it a rhythm game. With my experience on the game, harder levels require such a precise timing window to hit.
LyanPlaysGames
In some aspects yes. You're jumps, taps, and even when you land on a platform syncs in with the song. Most levels do this but some just dont.

basically yes xD
VinZentVanDough
Yes, for most of the levels at least.
Otaku-Cheeto
No not really

Short Answer:
Not really.

A somewhat longer answer:
GD has always been designed as a "Rage Game" and not a "Rhythm Game".
Sure, some level creators care enough that they want to make sure that their levels are properly synced with the song, but even then you can't really get it to be synced perfectly, since the level editor itself has limitations, and if the player taps out of sync just once, it might break the entire level's sync, hinting that the editor itself wasn't really intended to follow the music accurately every beat like osu!'s editor does.

the real question is: is osu! a rhythm game to you
joltypanda
More like an impossible game that has music in it.
mnii
Yes. It requires you to listen to music to get down timings and complete levels. Many maps go with the beat to the music and so will you to to the beat of the music.

It will be if the levels creator put effort in syncing gameplay like Pennutoh
