I’ve been stuck around 800pp for a year now, granted, I don’t play it much, but how is this possible? I managed to pass a 4 Star map (various BGM - wolf wood), and yet I can’t do platter difficulties on most songs, not even with HT. Is the ctb improvement process similar to taiko or mania or are there more steps involved?

You have 1.4k playcount spread out over a year, you need to play often to actually put in meaningful practice and get better, plain and simple.

Playing a lot in a short time will help a lot so keep practicing
and you will become really good :3
