Since the Christmas update (more or less) osu just won't log me in. It magically worked once normally and once on fallback version but not for long.
I am logged in correctly but osu still cannot connect to bancho. If I try to run fallback version from the in-game options menu I get "an error occurred during the last update attempt." notification and when I try to run the repair from the folder, be it fallback, beta or standard, the updater tells me I'm not connected to the internet. Which I am, since everything else runs fine.
I have no idea if that's related but I used to use the opera browser that would block all osu.ppy.sh sites because it's "unsafe" something something SSL certificate yada yada. I couldn't figure out how to manually allow it so I just uninstalled opera altogether. Firefox has never had this problem, so I'm just using it now.
Things I have tried/done:
Turning everything off and on again
Letting Osu through the firewall as an exception
Turning off the firewall completely
Doing the lan configurations thing (this thread: https://osu.ppy.sh/community/forums/topics/647666 )
Flushing dns, release/renew ip, reset modem yada yada
Uninstall and install osu again (after that it worked on fallback for a tiny bit, I turned it off and on again and we're back to the beginning)
When installing it again, I had to use the old install method because the new one would just tell me I'm not connected to the internet. Again.
Is my only choice redownloading it yet again and making sure I never let it go out of fallback...? Not posting screenshots because everyone knows what "can't log in to Bancho!" looks like.
Ps. my operating system is Windows 7
osu! version: 20160403.6
