Problem Details:
in the last 2 hours or so, i have been playing osu i noticed it crashing significantly often, this is the 3rd time in those last 2 hours that osu has crashed.
this only happened after leaving a replay or quiting a song and going back to the song selection panel, not sure if this is only happening to me, but before the recent update i've never had osu crash. i thought i should bring this to the communities attention

(edit: make that the 4th time osu has crashed)

System specifications:
CPU - Intel i5-7400
GPU - Nvidia GT730 2gb
RAM - 8gb DDR4
Operating System - Windows 10 home (version 1709)

osu! version: 20171211 (latest)

Please try closing anything you have running in the background and scan your computer for any viruses. Please also make sure all of your drivers are up to date.

Try running osu! as an administrator next time you start.

well i have tried what you suggested (no viruses and drivers were up to date) and crashes still occurred.
but after i stopped using steam to open osu i haven't had a crash yet.

Probably something messed up with Steam then. Try to disable Steam's in-game overlay.

From steam's support page:

Open the Steam client and navigate to the Steam > Settings/Preferences > In-game tab. Check Uncheck the box next to Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game.

As far as I know, it is not possible to disable the Steam overlay for specific non-Steam games, so this will disable it for all games.

Otherwise you might have to live with not running osu! through Steam.
