[Archived] Pop noise!

Problem Details:
This happens far too often to me and I seriously have no idea why.. I swear at first I was going crazy and I was just imagining it or my hitsound was the pop noise because obviously that's the hitsounds I'm using but that's not the case, every time I first open osu! and play a map I hear a pop noise. Only once usually, but today it was happening a lot throughout songs and it was causing me to shit-miss 1 because it'd spook me 2 I think I click too late and I just kinda give up on the map. Is there any fix to this? Do others experience this problem?

It can be issue with hitsouds, does it happen on other skins?

Do you change Volumes? osu! has issues when a hitsound is played the first time after a Effect or Master volume change. If you keep the volume completely consistent, it shouldn't happen.

That has been my volume for ages
Music 25%
Effect 15%
Master 10%
Maybe because my master volume is lower than both the other ones? I don't think so because I just played a few to test and I changed the volumes a few times to see if I can do replicate it and nothing happened.

Try a different skin, and also try disabling all audio enhancements through windows.

To do this, right click on the speaker icon in your taskbar then hit "Playback devices", right click on your audio output device and hit "Properties", select the "Enhancements" tab, check the "Disable all enhancements" box, and then apply the changes.

I've used a lot of other skins as well as a mashup for my current skin but I did not mess with the hitsounds, I don't really care too much to edit the hitsounds sometimes I play with hitsounds off for better acc. As for the "enhancements" in playback settings as you can see I've never even had them enabled.

Do you still get the popping sound with the hitsound volume turned all the way down?

Can you try using a different audio output device?

No, but it also doesn't happen for a while after the first pop noise anyways so I figured they weren't connected because I don't really play without hitsounds for too long, only for specific songs for better acc. Also, I connect earphones directly into the port on my PC along with playing it from QFX speakers. The pop has happened on both.

Try closing everything else you have running in the background that is not absolutely necessary to have open.

I suppose I could try that, but out of this: https://i.imgur.com/rwdzfjv.png what should I even close? that's all the applications running aside from Google Chrome which I use to quickly download songs.

Close everything for now. If your computer can run without it open, close it.
