[Archived] Can't hear any osu! audios or play any beatmaps

Problem Details:
When I normally started osu!, the usual background song didn't start playing or anything. I changed the song but nothing happened. I even tried to download a new beatmap. I can't hear any audios from osu! and I can't even raise up the volume, it doesn't even show in my "Audio/volume mixer". When I try to play some beatmap even if I can't hear anything, osu! starts to lag and it won't let me hit any circles or sliders etc

Someone please help me with this.
I have re-installed osu! three times and restarted my computer two times. I have updated osu! too.



osu! version: 20140814.1 (latest)

I tried but it didn't work either. I think the problem is in osu!...

did you try checking the Master Volume?


or using your mouse wheel on main menu or pausing a beatmap to raise or low the universal volume?

Yes q-q My osu volumes are as high as they can be.

Are your osu! sounds being used by the correct audio device?

Go to start >> type "sound" w/o quotes >> select sound under the control panel section >> choose your device and click "Set Default".

Right click on speaker device next to your date and time (if you're on windows), click on "open sound settings", go to the drop down menu
"select output device" and select your output device (your speakers).

I know this post is old but my friend had the same problem so why not share it
