Welcome to the osu!taiko World Cup 2019 Discussion Thread.
Here you can discuss everything related to the biggest worldwide osu!taiko tournament.

Notable changes for this year:

  1. All map pool sizes have been readjusted.
    1. The group stage will have a 4-2-2-2-3 format.
    2. The round of 16 and quarterfinals stage will have a 5-2-2-2-3 format
    3. The semifinals, finals and grand finals will have a 6-2-2-2-3 format
  2. Winning conditions have been modified.
    1. In Group Stage, you need to win 5 beatmaps to win a match. (Best-of-9)
    2. In the Round of 16 and the Quarterfinals, you need to win 6 beatmaps to win a match. (Best-of-11)
    3. In Semifinals, Finals and Grand Finals, you need to win 7 beatmaps to win a match. (Best-of-13)
  3. There will be a grand finals pool this year.
  4. The 3rd place match will be played the same weekend as the Grand Final, with the same map pool.
  5. Added a new rule about players disconnections.
  6. Some rules in regards of scheduling have been modified.

As a side note, we are also looking for commentators for this world cup so feel free to contact either deadbeat or juankristal.

More like its about time for TWC to have a 32-team tournament. I'm loving the idea of extending the length of matches and the readjusted mappool rules. I wish all countries the best of luck and may the best team win!

That actually depends on registrations, if there arent enough to do 32 competent teams it is reduced to 24 - 20 - 16, imo it will probably be 24 but we will see.

It will probably be 24 teams again, however I always have hope! It'll be nice to have 32 teams IMO :D

There are more registered players for this year than in TWC 2016. That's something I didn't really expect.

Help us ~~~ !
We are in an emergency about TWC
(1) Isobe was chosen as a member of Japan Team, but can't join TWC
(2) Isobe has a brother, and his brother's account has been restricted
(3) accounts@ppy.sh seems to treat it as his secondary account and that's why Isobe is not allowed
(4) 4 members (who know Isobe has a brother) had sent mails to them but we haven't received any mail yet
(5) deadline is after an another half day
