[Archived] Osu updater loop

My osu is stuck in an updater loop. When I run osu!, it downloads the update, I click on the restart button and then it opens the updater, when I open the destination folder of osu! I can see the files being added but as soon as it runs osu again, the files get removed.

Which files are being removed, all of them? Can you also provide your "update.log" file? Where do you have the game installed (filepath)?

So the files are not being deleted, they are just being hidden as they are supposed to be. But if I understand the issue correctly, you are saying when the game starts it prompts you to restart because of an update every time?

I'm having the same problem.
I just started installing osu!, the updater kept looping a second after that.
Running osu.exe from the install directory doesn't work.
What can I possibly do? I just clean reset my PC.

EDIT: I fixed it! The Discord-rpc.dll file was missing when I checked the log, so I put an empty notepad file and renamed it to discord-rpc.dll!
osu! works perfectly for now, I know this risks Discord limitations but I can play now!

I do have the discord-rpc.dll file, so that's not what is causing the issue for me...

Just curious, is there anything still in that hidden _staging folder after the game starts?

The name changed to _pending and this is in there:

When I click on restart osu, it makes a new map called _cleanup and after that there is a _staging map with this in it:
