The highest level i've ever seen anyone is 106, i'm not sure if anyone is higher than that. But does anyone know if there is a maximum level you can get to (or/and how much point you'd need to get to it?)

I'm willing to bet there is no maximum but at a level that high it takes a hell of a lot of time to progress.

The oldest person lived 122.5 years (source)

That is 122.5 years * (365 days / 1 year) * (24 hours / 1 day) * (60 minutes / 1 hour) = 64386000 minutes

An average map length is about 2 minutes (source)

64386000 minutes / 2 minutes = 32193000

The formula for levels is the following, where n is is level: (source)
score = 5,000 / 3 * (4n^3 - 3n^2 - n) + 1.25 * 1.8^(n - 60), where n <= 100
score = 26,931,190,829 + 100,000,000,000 * (n - 100), where n >= 101

Now this does little justice on the density of the map what the score would be within 2 minutes. So let's instead assume you can FC a 2 minute 180 BPM stream back to back your entire life the moment you, the beautiful bundle of cancer we now know as destroyerwilly, popped out of your mama's birth hole. I hope your utilities bills are also paid in advance and that you are hooked up to life support in this ridiculous hypothetical scenario, because you will not be getting up from your ass for more than a century. Let's also assume bancho doesn't hit an iceberg and that WWIII and an AI uprising doesn't happen in the meantime, causing the end of you and mankind.

So, I made a 2 minute 180 bpm map and let auto play it.
The score is: 62,597,100 (source)

Lets first solve for the score required for level 100:
5,000 / 3 * (4*100^3 - 3*100^2 - 100) + 1.25 * 1.8^(100 - 60) = 26,931,190,828.6

Now let's figure out how many of these plays we will need to do to reach that score:
62,597,100*x = 26,931,190,828.6
x = 26,931,190,828.6 / 62,597,100
x = 430.230646925

To find out how many minutes that is:
430.230646925 plays * (2 minutes / 1 play) = 860.46129385 minutes

So now out of your entire life, you will spend 860.46129385 minutes getting to level 100
64386000 minutes - 860.46129385 minutes = 64385139.5387 minutes

So you got a good amount of life to waste farming levels, so let's get on to it!

Now we need to translate the time you got left to score, so
64385139.5387 minutes * (1 play / 2 minutes) * (62,597,100 / 1 play) = 2,015,161,509,108,978.885

Now lets plug that into the formula:
score = 26,931,190,829 + 100,000,000,000 * (n - 100)
2,015,161,509,108,978.885 = 26,931,190,829 + 100,000,000,000 * (n - 100)

And solve for n, which is level!
(2,015,161,509,108,978.885 - 26,931,190,829) / 100,000,000,000 + 100 = n

*Drum roll*

level 20251.34577918149885

Well there you have it folks, we finally learned that I need help because I have no idea wtf I am doing with my life making this shit

I just heard from millhioreF that the highest level is level109, which would take 926 billion points to reach. which means you'd have to FC the linkin park marathon with DTHRHD (or DTFL, FLHRHD) 2806 times to reach maximum level
Edgar_Figaro
But isn't level just calculated on total score and not ranked score? So just replaying a marathon with the highest (points per minute) score assuming an FC and also assuming you are some unnatural creature that can 4 mod SS said marathon map non-stop. You could achieve a much much higher level.

Just curious what level you could theoretically achieve by 4 mod SSing "the unforgiving" marathon map (in CTB as CTB gives more points than standard so you could get to a higher level as level calculation is still the same) and doing that for 122 years non-stop. Also since with double time we can shave off a lot of time from each play but we should also add in a few seconds to each run assuming time to restart the map after you complete it previously.

Edit: So Apparently linkin park marathon gives more points as it's higher SR and gets to about same combo in less total time. Still should be CTB mode as combo multiplier is higher

Edit2: Lol so just watched Auto-play the link park marathon DTHDHRFL in CTB mode and it actually hits the score overflow and starts going back down. So let's pretend it didn't overflow then our score would be 2,639,082,471
And would take 23:53 to complete. So let's call it 24:00 per play for resetting the map.

So 122.5 years/24:00 = 2,682,750 Full Combos of this map

2,682,750*2,639,082,471=7,079,998,499,075,250 points over your entire lifetime.
So using this system you would get more than 3x the points that you would with abrakers system.

I don't assume you are playing marathons to farm lvl on purpose, but did assume you will play maps back-to-back

I mean we are talking about some crazy person who is somehow going to play Osu for 122.5 years straight without breaks to sleep, eat, drink, exercise, use bathroom, or anything else that normal human beings need simply in an effort to maximize level farming. Also I figured we were going for the theoretical highest level someone could achieve in their lifetime assuming devoting 100% of life to exp farming so might as well use the biggest point return for time spent and just play that map on repeat.

Just a comment.

It's both: "Total and ranked". But I suppose you were saying it like this with that exact intention.
If "unranked" scores were included, who knows who will make a **** Map and try some ill stuff ( '. .)

A 4* 2 min 180 BPM stream map looks like the average of what a player would play. I figured that the player would get tired playing the same map for 122.5 years, so why not do different maps?

highest lvl so far is https://osu.ppy.sh/u/448547 if ctb counts. soon 109.

and edgar's right + what if live-expectancy rises drastically due to medical advancement?!

pretty sure we are all gonna be cyborgs restricted from osu! for non human play by then.

highest level (im)possible to reach is 2147483647 because even if you hit that score in normal map you will reset to - values
