Problem Details:
osu! starts taking up too much CPU and makes my laptop unusable until i close osu!
happens when i stay in the editor menu for too long (>5-10mins)
for the record i have tried restarting my computer, running the repair osu.exe, swithing to compatibility mode, and even reinstalled osu (which only fixed it for about 2 days)

(ms will also frequently spike up to 33 and fps will usually stay under 240)
