00:10:552 (1,2) - is these 1/4 alowed also they come unexpectedly idk i dont feel they fit it feels they are too much and u should simplfy it
00:18:939 (2) - move to x232 y290 so u avoid this slight overlap 00:17:487 (4,2) - and then adjust what comes after
00:59:584 (1) - ctrl j and replace will flow better imo
01:17:003 (5,2) - its not stacked well

Different places at whole map where are weird overlaps, why? That's not so easy to read and not so pretty to watch...

iTunes is not official source for meta and regarding the copy-pasted parts: we're in 2017 and I'd rather not see this stuff, but it works and it is not a huge part that's being copied here so whatever (freedom of expression I guess).

01:06:036 (6,1) - enabling stacking in editor and manually fix this would be cool on Insane

I generally find this mapset generic, but I guess it resembles the music genre (since you know... "pop" comes from "popular music", hence the style feels natural for this sort of song imo) (more or less what happens with all the anime tv size maps)

03:20:229 - 03:30:552 - There is a sudden SV change so maybe an NC is needed. But you won't like to break your "1 measure 1 NC" rule, so I think keeping the same 1.30x SV is better because the SV changes before were consisting of 01:46:036 (1,2,3,4) - 02:47:971 (1,2,3,4) - , which doesn't exist on the last kiai anyway.

Would have been better if you tolerated ignoring some dense sounds because the current spread doesn't seem ideal. But as it is constructed in this way anyway, not much we can do here.

But as this map is already constructed by that strict "1 measure 1 NC" rule, let's skip it for this map.

Wasn't aware of the copy-paste, wops lol. I think it's fine here tbh. The argument against copy/pasting is "lazy mapper" / "uncreative". The lazy mapper argument has no basis in mapping quality so I don't believe it to be relevant to this discussion. But the "uncreative" argument is fair. If another BN feels that mapping like this is not a sign of good quality, then feel free to pop.

So, even though people are saying it's a lame excuse to put less effort in the map, I really feel like there needs to be more effort for the kiai in the Insane. Having the kiai at 01:27:971 - be exactly the same as 02:29:907 - but horizontally flipped shows very little effort at all. You've claimed that the song is no different because the song itself basically copy pastes the 3rd chorus but I feel like that's not a good enough excuse, I feel this should have more effort by changing things in the third kiai to be less similar to the second before pushing it forward, you bothered to do it in the hard (and normal) so I don't see why you don't bother in this difficulty.

Well I personally think, that even though copy&paste shows laziness, when it makes sense with the song, it doesn't really affect the map's overall quality. Some people might hate to see this laziness, but as long as the song is also pretty much the same, copy&paste can be rather a consistent way to represent it.

I also would love to see putting more effort in this, but I just think it's not something we should force the mapper.

It's a subjective issue, I just don't feel like a copy paste style should be allowed in 2017, this isn't the year where Andrea copy pasted kiais to avoid mapping, while I guess it would be just a little bit more understandable if he did the same to all diffs, this copy paste laziness only happens in the Insane.

note: this does not mean copy paste the kiais for all the diffs, that's not the point of bolding all

Most objects in Insane are heavily distance snapping based, and the bpm is not really high imo. Using an ar 9 felt too exaggerated for me.

@Battle:

Do you mind elaborating more on why you think the copy-paste should be avoided? As what I've read so far, the points you've made were likely to be "copy pastes are less effort in a map" or "it's 2017 and copy paste shouldn't be allowed" but I couldn't really see why the copy pasted concept was not a good decision, and why fixing it would be better from you in terms of mapping quality.

Bad copy paste just ignores whatever how song changes, and just use the completely same pattern from the previous section, but I do not feel the case here since the music has a strong similarity. Besides, it seems like Hard is also applying the same idea.

Though I feel the individual patterns in each copy-paste section were not really advanced in quality, I think you could've better explained why you thought that concept wasn't good according to "mapping quality" for a better understanding of the mapper imo.

I'm very well aware of the fact that copy paste does exist, however I do not feel that it should exist quite to this extent. It takes away from potential quality the map could have with slight variations for the rhythm and or visual structure, the hard does the concept but has very little variation, which shows at least some effort. I feel like copy pasting feels like it takes away from quality not because it is done wrongly, but it just takes away all the potential patterns and such you can put to make the map more exciting. Just because the song is monotonous doesn't mean you have to make the map as monotonous.

Also like I said, it's a concept that does exist and work sometimes, however the execution (from feedback I received from other BNs) felt like it wasn't heavily cemented as a concept that the map went by.


Make sure you read all of the posts to make sure I don't look like I'm necessarily doing this to spite you, I know that you are able to map well enough to make this section more interesting instead of a copy paste, you can make the quality better, I know you can.

Just throwing my thoughts here.

Personally I don't find anything wrong with copy paste but I think it would be better to copy individual patterns and then change something in between patterns instead of just copy paste flipping larger sections. That would still keep it consistent while making it more interesting overall.

So, since copy pasting kiais is the theme, shouldn't you just do it on all the diffs? That way you'd cement it as a main part of the map set and people will stop complaining for no reason =)

  1. 00:56:842 (9,1) - 01:32:972 (6,1) - The song's density over these two sections is really far greater for some jumps that should probably be above ^1.6x distance spacing, or just placing them a bit further. So why the anti-jumps while downbeats sound more intense? Could've followed the consistency like the most of the jumps around this difficulty.
  2. 01:37:971 (4) - Doesn't this sharp slider create a structure that could stimulate the current flowing to the next circles? Or were you out of ideas?
  3. 01:56:681 (2) - 01:58:616 (9,10,11) - I believe these 1/8 notes here does not fit best on this kind of track, by hearing this part more than three times with a lower playback rate. Neither the vocals nor the background music did some hi-hats or whatso. I would recommend replacing it into two circles or a quartered slider, or maybe a rhythm that befits here.
  4. 02:09:261 (1) - Uhmm... The custom finish hitsound should be added here, isn't it? You've probably did add one on the previous duplicated verse, but here... why not?
