  • Map is too linear. You don't only want square patterns, it's really boring.

    Think of using Distance Snap when you need it most. Not through out the whole map because right now, this looks like a 2011 map.\

    Try messing with the slider velocity changes, it fits really well with this song if you use it correctly.

  2. Add "Japanese" to tags
  3. The drain time (rather than the time of the song) has to be over 5 minutes if you're looking for Approval. This means you have to map 03:17:920 to 03:28:892

  12. 01:06:263 Let's talk about this part. You've used longer sliders which you have to alternate on because of the 1/4 gap in between. I like this idea, however you should consider having a gap after the last slider. Draw your attention to this pattern 01:11:749 (1,2,3) - . As you observe, there's a 1/1 gap there. If you were to put 1/1 gaps after the end slider of each pattern, it would make this relatively calm section feel less mashy. Otherwise, you have the player essentially not letting go of the keys in a part that's not even intense. Since the drain time is 5 minutes, this allows players to also catch a break.
  13. 01:19:292 (1) - I feel like these (when I mean "these", I mean the 1/2s that are shaped like this) sliders are overdone slightly. I see you're mapping to the vocals for this part. Thus already, there is no need for these. Like previously mentioned as well, this is a calmer section of the song. You should include more gaps for the players.
  14. 01:37:635 (1) - Slightly off-stacked
  15. 02:09:349 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - Instead of stacking, the song presents itself with an amazing opportunity to place some fun and challenging jumps.

  18. 02:48:777 (6,1) - Because of slider-leniency, the spacing here isn't actually that large. I'd recommend moving 02:49:120 (1) - to x276 y94 and 02:48:777 (6) - to x381 y192. After you've done this, I'd suggest changing 02:49:635 (3) - this to be parallel with 02:49:120 (1) - (if you're confused, just reply here)

If you were to put 1/1 gaps after the end slider of each pattern, it would make this relatively calm section feel less mashy. Otherwise, you have the player essentially not letting go of the keys in a part that's not even intense. Since the drain time is 5 minutes, this allows players to also catch a break. Okay I made the 1/1 gaps, not sure if the slider shapes are fine now though

  1. I will be talking about my own opinion on the map as a whole in the mod. While I hope you'll consider what I mention, it is, in the end, only the opinion of one person. If you disagree, that's fine too.
  2. You might want to switch the order between combo color 3 and 4, so 4 and 1, which look very similar, don't come right after each other.
  3. I'm not a very big fan of the hitnormals you're using. Personally I think the default soft and normal hitnormals work just fine.
[Insane]
  1. Opinion stuff first:
  2. 00:00:435 - 00:21:006 - For me, this part seems like you just placed a bunch of circles and sliders in 1/2 rhythm, and didn't really do much more in terms of making a consistent pattern, or in some way following more of the different sounds present here. Personally, I would for example use a 1/1 slider at 00:00:435 (1,2) - , and then be consistent, following the (how2describesound) sound at 00:05:920 - and 00:06:435 - with another pair of 1/1 sliders. This also makes it possible for more variation in rhythm without making it feel forced by making it random how many notes or 1/2 sliders are in a row before switching to the other. Obviously for 00:11:406 - etc as well.
  3. 00:22:377 - I feel like this part has a similar problem as above. Basically, you're almost exclusively just going with 1/2's, which is fine in general, but then you should try to use the spacing to emphasize parts of the song, and sliders to bring out different parts of the music. For example, in the beginning, I would go with a rhythm similar to this http://i.imgur.com/tdD07PF.png , and arranging them as http://i.imgur.com/lZ4SVoE.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/VI95MXO.jpg . Of course these are in a mapping style closer to mine than yours, but the idea is basically that the difference in spacing between 00:22:377 (1,2,3) - (1,2) and (2,3) will emphasize the beat at 00:23:063 - , and then the same for 00:23:406 (4,5) - , and the beats at 00:24:435 (3,4,5,6) - are very close in intensity, so it feels nice to have about the same DS between them. Going all notes as well works since you want to hit all of those beats in the music.
  4. 02:12:092 - For the kiai, I would go with something like http://i.imgur.com/ZWIEanS.png instead tbh, with bigger jumps between (1,2) and (3,4) than (2,3).
  5. 02:55:977 - 03:17:920 - I feel like this section is much better mapped in terms of rhythm. Most of the longer vocals are on a slider, and you're consistent in terms of how powerful the notes feel at parts like 03:04:206 (1,2,3,4) - and 03:07:292 (2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4) - . The only thing is maybe the buildup at 03:14:835 - being a bit big compared to how easy the sliders before are.
  6. 04:01:806 - Also, for the kiai, it's probably fine to add triples to put emphasis on some beats, but right now (both here and in previous kiai) they're kind of randomly placed (or at least feel randomly placed. I can't tell what logic you're using in placing them), and thus makes them feel overmapped.
  7. 04:45:692 - For the endpart, a slider/note pattern like: http://i.imgur.com/DPMsazD.png would work nicely imo. Still just a row of 1/2, but less random in terms of what's being followed in the song.
  8. Most of these things are suggestions as to how you can make the 1/2's more interesting, as the song is long and repetitive.
  1. The mod below will base itself on your current map and style. If you consider the points above and do anything about them, there's probably things here you can disregard. If some idea below feels nice to you, remember to apply them for similar parts of the map as well.
  2. 00:02:835 (4) - ctrl+g? Flows nicely as it follows the curve from (2,3) into the sliderhead, and if you feel you want more circular flow, you can place 00:03:349 (2) - on the right side instead of left side.
  3. 00:11:749 (2,4) - Maybe move these closer to the previous slider, and further from the next sliders, so the distance emphasizes the beat on the sliderheads? You may do this at 00:06:263 (2,4) - as well, although they're not as noticeable since the spacing is already fairly big there overall.
  4. 00:20:149 (4) - I would move this more to the right. Right now it's a 90 degree angle, which doesn't flow that well here imo.
  5. 00:23:406 (5,6) - I like the stack, but you should be consistent with it 00:28:892 (5) -
  6. 00:25:120 (1,2) - (1) to 242;344 and (2) to 99;245? Makes the pattern look a bit cleaner for me.
  7. 00:26:835 (2) - Imo, this note shouldn't be a part of the "repeating/rotating" triangle, since the next notes in the triangle are all when there is vocal.
  8. 00:30:606 (1) - Move this to http://i.imgur.com/eC7IEMU.png ? Follows the triangular flow much better, and also flows better into the next slider imo (although you should slightly reposition and reshape the (3) slider)
  9. 00:40:206 (1,2,3,4,5,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,1,2,3) - You can make the curves of these streams smoother. Right now they look pretty rough and unpolished. Use the slider->stream tool if you have a hard time making curvy streams.
  10. 00:42:949 (1,2,3,4) - Wouldn't it look neater if you made this into a smooth curve, rather than this weird L shaped thing.
  11. 00:50:835 (5) - If you're going with these 1/4 sliders, I'd say you should make this a 1/4 as well. I'm not a very big fan of the 00:51:006 (6) though.

  13. 00:57:177 (4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,1) - What are you following with the triples? I can't really hear any instrument going in that rhythm.

Unless you're following something, I'd remove them, and even if you are following something, you should still consider it since there are probably more people than me that can't really tell what these triples are following. Same with the stream at 01:46:549 (3,4,5,6,7,8,9) - . Feels a bit artificially placed.
  19. 02:06:606 (1,2,3,4,1,2,3) - You should space these out more, so the bigger jumps afterwards aren't so jarring. Alternatively, make the big jumps later at 02:09:349 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - less big, and instead have an increasing spacing.

To summarize:
  1. General flow of the map is fine. Most of the time notes will transition into each other pretty well, although some parts could be better.
  2. Patterning could be much better. Things like 04:30:606 (1,2,3,4,5) - for example just looks really chaotic and without any set structure for the pattern: http://i.imgur.com/2KXXCWB.jpg . Same with things like 04:59:406 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - http://i.imgur.com/pqGt3H4.png etc.
  3. The rhythm is very centered around 1/2, which is fine in itself, but there are many ways to make 1/2 more interesting and following the song more closely than you have done.
  4. A lot of random triples and streams that I'm not sure is actually following anything, which makes them feel overmapped.
I guess in the end what I'm trying to say is that there's more than just the drums to follow, and it would make the map far more interesting if you varied that in the map. Constantly hitting out a 1/2 rhythm is often pretty boring, especially for a 5 minute long map.

From what I can see, the map still needs more work before it's ready. The basic idea of the map is good, but there's a lot of polish that can go into note placement and rhythm.

I used that change to get more tripples in the map since I didn't want to have everything as 1/2 .

To summarize:
  1. General flow of the map is fine. Most of the time notes will transition into each other pretty well, although some parts could be better.
  2. Patterning could be much better. Things like 04:30:606 (1,2,3,4,5) - for example just looks really chaotic and without any set structure for the pattern: http://i.imgur.com/2KXXCWB.jpg . Same with things like 04:59:406 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - http://i.imgur.com/pqGt3H4.png etc.
  3. The rhythm is very centered around 1/2, which is fine in itself, but there are many ways to make 1/2 more interesting and following the song more closely than you have done.
  4. A lot of random triples and streams that I'm not sure is actually following anything, which makes them feel overmapped.
I guess in the end what I'm trying to say is that there's more than just the drums to follow, and it would make the map far more interesting if you varied that in the map. Constantly hitting out a 1/2 rhythm is often pretty boring, especially for a 5 minute long map.

From what I can see, the map still needs more work before it's ready. The basic idea of the map is good, but there's a lot of polish that can go into note placement and rhythm.

00:04:206 (6,1,2) - Select (6,1), copy and paste them somewhere on the timeline and rotate by 90 degrees, then move accordingly so the new (6) is above the old (1). New (1) will be moving accordingly and the position it will be when you are do what I told you is the best position to place (2). This is not only for respecting the general symmetry but also respecting the flow and the DS used here.
00:08:492 (6) - Avoid starting sliders on red ticks.
00:09:177 (3,1) - Their overlap looks ugly.
00:09:692 (5,1,2) - Besides, there are plenty of 3 slider patterns that use alternating flow except this one.

- I could keep going and point out the same stuff over and over, but I think you get the point that this clearly needs more work than you might think. It has little to no structure and lacks patterns in a huge degree. The most well-playing patterns in your map are some triangles that include a back-and-forth movement. Recheck all your streams and make sure they actually have beats in their whole of them. Go though your map and search for spacing inconsistency. Most importantly though, sit down and think of more patterns to use in your beatmap; these will create the consistency you are looking for and in the long run- make it fun.

I honestly think this is one thing to note and in regards to the shapes, you could do away with some overlaps imo and things could come out neater.

The rhythm here is fine, but I think note placement can be improved; just by using the whole playfield for the beginning section, you might see that the overall feel of the map will be better.

2) 00:23:577 Considering that in the combo, all earlier notes were roughly the same distance apart, wouldn't it make sense for this note to be also be the same distance apart from the previous note? If you do make this the same distance, you can try a nice triangle pattern: However, when I was playing the beatmap for the 1st time I still hit it fine; this is more for aesthetics ( hence I stress equal distances between notes)

I would recommend the sliders end at 01:06:606 and 01:07:120 because it sounds better. What I do like though is the change in volumes; it makes this part a lot nicer. It will look a lot better that way.

I just wanted to split the ds into two parts, making a nice jump to the NC, but you're right it kinda looks bad lol, I don't think triangle patern fits since it goes 1-2 1-2.

Some quick things to mention before #2

[Galaxy of Dreams]

  1. 00:08:320 (4,1) - Jump felt random and unsupported by the music xPP
  2. 00:27:863 (1,2,3) - Flow a bit less than ideal here D: A jump from 2>3 would be cool.
  3. 00:38:749 - I think a triplet would fit better here than on 00:38:920 (2) - . Generally triplets feel good when they end on white ticks because they're a means to emphasize beats like jumps/flowbreaks. When 1/4 rhythm is kind of ambiguous like here having them end on white ticks is better imo.
  4. 01:26:149 (4,5) - Weird you dont blanket here but you do so with your other patterns prior to this.
  5. 01:30:435 (1,2,3,4,5) - These jumps felt really big for a section thats supposed to be calm/simple. I'd make this a pentagon pattern rather than a star.
  6. 01:50:149 - 01:54:263 - This section felt a lot simpler than 01:39:177 - 01:47:406 - etc.. cuz you don't use as many 1/4's even tho the music is kind of building up.
  7. 02:12:092 (1) - 1/2 slider + circle fits better imo D:
  8. 03:06:606 (5,6,1) - Really sharp angle from 5>6>1 D::
  9. 04:15:520 (1,2,3,4) - A larger jump from 3>4 would fit the emphasis of the song better. 1>2 seems too big anyways since 2 doesn't really land on a very significant beat like 4.
