Applause files and other passive hit sounds must use the .mp3 or .ogg file formats. These files usually have long durations and .wav files are unnecessarily large in comparison.

Correctly I understood that point 1 is outdated and should I use mp3? for Applause.

And if the information is out of date, can I use .wav for this files:
combobreak | comboburst| count1s\2s\3s | gos | pause-loop (the most important!) | readys | sectionfail | sectionpass? failsound?

The wiki is often outdated. Skinning wiki was mostly done 2 years ago. Ranking Criteria is the only exception and are the rules you HAVE to follow.

So yes, wiki(1) is wrong and you have ti follow RC(2).

Regarding your second question, I'm not a skinner so seek official answer but I guess those fit the definition of passive hitsounds, so mp3 or ogg is to be used. (edit: combobreak is active tho)
