UPDATE: So, that iOS port that was released? Well, uh...

Now, whether this is teasing a full-fledged sequel, a one-week-long sequel, or just a spin-off is still up in the air. Same with what platforms it's on. We don't know what platforms it's on yet, either. Hell, it could be a drama CD, as unlikely as it seems. So, don't get too hyped up yet, but instead just be aware that we're getting some sort of follow-up.

OLD STUFF: Long story short, thanks to some geniuses we've figured out what http://www.square-enix.co.jp/subaseka/ is a teaser site for. Among other things, like the extremely obvious motif the site has going with the day counter and crap, this mp3 was ripped from site and confirms that it's TWEWY-related:

As for what it is? We have no bloody idea yet. A new game's a possibility, but this is SE so I'm just going to wait a week and see what it is

Oh, and the rumors about it being a PC/mobile phone game have been debunked, before someone brings it up and I have to post later and say, "No, it was bad translation/it's a standard script on every page/etc." (Yes, it's been revealed to be an iPhone port. But, as shown above, they at least added a teaser for the real thing those trolls)

I like how they used Calling by Leah in the teaser. It's one of my favorite songs in the TWEWY OST Ü

I wouldn't get *too* excited just yet. Feel free to remain optimistic, but I would save the actual hype until after we see the reveal and know if they're trolling us again. This is SE, and they can't decide if they want to be cool or want to troll everybody.

This is pre-TGS, though, so there's still some hope.

This looks promising at least. I still regret that I didn't actually buy TWEWY but instead just played as much as a I could while renting it from gamefly. Oh, if only DS saves weren't limited to the cartridge.

More like the sequel squenix hinted at in the secret ending yet never did anything with.

if you've played through the main story, it makes sense that the first day of the "fourth" week, the week neku wakes up in the RealGround, is the same as being reborn. Since everyone was already dead, given a second chance for a chance at life.

The url itself pretty much gives it away as being TWEWY related,
as the Japanese name for the game was Subarashiki kono Sekai.

I don't see much need for a direct prequel or sequel, the TWEWY story is pretty well self-contained. The only thing that would really make sense as a real sequel would be something like the Reapers invading the real world for whatever reason, or at least that's all I can think of.

But even if it's different characters in a different part of the world with different gameplay I think it would still be good.

Yeah, I hope it doesn't try to carry on with Neku, and uses original characters. Most characters' roles are already done, unless the humans grow old and have a second chance after a heart attack or something. Next Tin Pin Episode, perhaps?

Nomura already said they were doing something new with TWEWY, which is why they had the TWEWY characters in KHDDD - they wanted to establish new "canon" voice actors so that it fits into "where they want to take TWEWY next"

and if anyone's confused, the current BGM on the site (August 20th) is Twister (well, just the percussion)

The DS is a dying system, and Square Enix made KH: DDD 3DS only. It's highly unlikely a new TWEWY would be released on the DS. And if the gameplay stays the same, I can't see it being on anything other than the 3DS.

it's obvious it's going to be 3DS only (maybe Wii U, but very small chances); however prices for 3DS games in here are horribly high and asdfghsfjksld

I'd check to see if the BGM is changed, but from playing with URLs I haven't been able to find their location (they are being played through a .swf file)

When I first saw the page a couple days ago it sounded like a mix of calling and twister to me. Right now (Aug 23rd) it's even more pronounced with added vocals from calling.

3 more days. I don't know what it is but I'm still excited >w<. If it is a new game I hope it's released everywhere within the year *is still waiting for ffversus13*>.>

I am now looking for my TWEWY cartridge so I can play through it again. Of course, I've found the case and manual. But, the cartridge itself is who-knows-where, and ripping apart my room in search of it doesn't seem to be helping me much. I might resort to illegal methods, but I hope I don't have to do that.

That said, even if it's not a new game, as long as it's not a smartphone port* or something ridiculous like that I'm satisfied. I'm really hoping it's a new game, but as someone who likes Digimon games I'm used to disappointment.

*The reason a smartphone port would be horrid would be because TWEWY's gameplay kind of requires buttons.

Although I wonder if it were a sequel, whether they'd keep the sprite visual style or use 3d models... Am I the only one who wants the sprites?

You'd be surprised at the stupid shit certain companies make teaser sites for. ;P This one looks like it had effort put into it, though, so that gets my hopes up.

This was the guy who translated the original TWEWY BTW. Though, it does make sense; why would SE go through all this effort of making an arranged album and an iOS release if they had no plans to make a real sequel and continue the series?

But as I've been trying to say, guys, don't get your hopes up too much. As I said from the beginning, this is SE we're talking about. inb4 they announce that they're permanently moving the series to iOS

EDIT: As for how they'll port it? Why, they'll remove weeks 2, 3, and the entire post game, they'll absolutely destroy the gameplay, and they'll make sure to do everything they can to strip out the soul of the original. ^_^

Ouch. Well, there is always the possibility that there's more to the countdown. SquEnix has fucked us over enough regarding TWEWY, but I still have hope... We'll survive the game of theirs.

The only franchise where SE really get things right consistently is the spin-off series Dragon Quest Monsters. Well, the time it took us to get Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 was absolutely horrid to the point where an enhanced version of the game came out in Japan before we got the original version, but that's about it so far and that incident can be attributed to the shift of publishing rights from SE to Nintendo messing with things.

For every other franchise, expect SE to troll. *Always* expect SE to troll. *ALWAYS*.
