Traditionally, I believe Nightcore simply sped up trance songs by 25% thereby raising the pitch by that amount as well. What happens in a lot of cases now is that people raise the speed of existing remixes. Take the Jan Wayne Vs. Raindropz remix of Numb; it was sped up, marked as Nightcore and mapped in osu!. I highly doubt there is any remixer making original arrangements, speeding them up and releasing them as Nightcore. So yes, they are just upping the speed and calling it a remix.MMzz wrote:

You'll notice that real nightcore mixes are actually remixed. (Most nightcore actually rearranges the song, adds synth bridges/verses. Not just upping the pitch an calling it a remix)
