Maybe your desk is too high, which makes you uncomfortable while playing. You might prefer having the keyboard at a height only slightly higher than your lap, and in a stable surface.
I have my keyboard quite high. It's at the height of the top of my stomach. I can't play well with my keyboard low down.
Having it on your lap, I imagine, would also cause quite a bit of shaking when you tap?
