Waste of time, you won't get better by memorizing maps. Good for players who want some high rank but don't actually have the skill to get it, so you just use FL+HD and magically you can go over White Wolf, on a single map, by playing it like 700 times while the guy played it like... 3.

Worst memory ever = impossible to FL anything

I have trouble doing any mods. :( I'm highly reliant on approach circles and the music itself, not the notes. Hidden is the most I could possibly do. DT if the song is slow enough, rofl. I'm pretty much a pure no-mod player. ;____; I like it though.
Wishy
FL is overpowered though, being able to beat a top player while you just suck compared to him is ridiculous.

The issue with flashlight is people who are generally less skilled can steal rank 1's from other players who DT said maps. Flashlight can generally be used with hidden and hardrock whilst doubletime can only be used in conjunction with hidden.

FL and HT are op.
Easy mod is actually such a hard mod that they added the score lowering to make it even more difficult. This mod is for pros only.

I can't see what I'm doing. That's not fun to me. If the game's not fun, why play it?
JAKACHAN
3rd.. Unless I ABSOLUTELY like the song or want to rank #1 on it I won't waste my time.

Cool idea: let's nerf PP gain from FL like with HT /o/ ahaha umad FL players?
Ekaru
Because it no longer has a 1.18x multiplier. :(

I don't think you get the point of this thread.

nothing~ but FL is hard to get good ranked scores with, and shamed by pro players, so I don't use it much except for fun

Used to dislike the idea of FL, but lately it actually feels like a cool mod; Here is why

Just imagine it, fast forward to the future in your osu playtime, in many many plays from now you're a player like azuraer, who can S (or SS) any map on his first try. Every week there's about 30~ new maps that are worth playing, you S all of them in like 2 hours, now what? What if you played osu a little on thursday and on friday, and then felt like playing a little more on saturday... but you've already S'd every single map worth playing. Now what?

Playing old maps again normally would be boring, and not everybody likes to grind for SS; so at this point, the challenge of trying to memorize a map you like as fast as possible can actually be interesting, because you'll pretty much be stuck playing only maps you already passed anyway, so why not add a new challenge to it.

...but if somebody only uses FL to get a top score in the rankings it's p.lame
Tidek
FL only on songs which i very like. I dont want use DT and destroy my favourite songs ;<

Well I think FL is a cool mod

FL = great for fun but impossible to FC if >250 combos orz

What i normally do is either FL and play for fun
FL is also a good way to kill everyone in multi except for yourself ^^

Or SS (FL + DT + HR) on easy/normal songs with <200 combos or 250 combos to get to the top 40s which is easy for the fun of it

who said that moving your fingers faster is skill? because that's easy, I'm a ctb player and I can do 220bpm maps perfectly (obviously not long streams) and I'm sure that practicing it I could get even better ... I hate flashlight haters really, because FL requires skill too, obviously your first map with FL will take a lot of retries, but I'm sure if you play with FL constantly it will be a lot easier compared with your first hard FL map ... what is that? SKILL :D
thelewa
But 220bpm maps in CTB don't require you to press buttons 14.6 times in a second during streams

Also it's not about streams, it's about the jumps, those are the the ones that actually require skill

I mean 220bpm in standard obviously, and also, the jumps are easy too if you have a good mouse or tablet, which I haven't and that's why I don't play standard :c

I never understood why people made streams out to be such a big deal. I have never once felt like streaming was a hard mechanic in this game. There are so many things that are harder to do than streaming.

people are better at certain things i guess :)

i myself don't mind streams and would take streams over jumps anyday

No no no, you can't say that the jumps are easy if you haven't actually tried them with a tablet or a mouse

Because it is too boring and difficult to play the same map >9k.

28k standard plays, trust me, I did ...

Having a good mouse or tablet does not make you better at anything in osu...?

In what way could a better mouse (or a better tablet) help you at all? Perhaps if you play mouse only, then the way your mouse clicks could be important, but other than that, you only need a cheap mouse that fits your hand and that has a working laser... same with tablet, it just needs to work. My tablet for example is pretty low end, one of the most basic ones out there.
thelewa
Yeah mouse only is basically the only playstyle where a good mouse actually benefits you, kriers' words.

Tablets don't really make a difference as long as the latency is fine, which it is in all of the cheap Bamboo tablets

good mouse over cheap mouse makes a huge difference when it comes to jumps and precision.

Agree.

I really don't see how. As long as the cheap mouse doesn't have a faulty laser and doesn't have weird lag, it should be fine?

Also, howw "good' would you consider a deathadder? Because I honestly don't see any difference between that and my original broken $10 (or something close to that) mouse

cheap mouse don't read properly at high speed movements, and most of them have jitter. So if you want to use low sensitivity for control, u won't be able to do fast arm movements.
A deathadder is a good mouse, but i doesn't last much if u are a hardcore gamer that uses it everyday (mouseclicks are very low end).

Good mouses do help a lot, every friend I have that used to play with a shit generic mouse switched to Razer/SS mouses and they got better quite fast after getting used to it.

I have a question: What's the real difference between a generic mouse and a gaming mouse?

I'm using the mouse I got with my PC (it's worth like 7€) and overpolling it to 1000hz did a HUGE difference. It is worth buying a gaming mouse when my generic one is already overpolled to 1000hz (1ms lag) ?
G0r
Polling adjustment is great, but the real thing that matters is DPI. You can't adjust DPI on a standard consumer mouse. You can, however, adjust DPI on a gaming mouse. Without DPI adjustment, you have no control over how your tool functions, and thus you are adjusting to the tool, rather than adjusting the tool to you. It's also worth noting that the tracking on gaming mice is generally light years better.
billy96
I tend to get nervous after getting around 100-200 combos and i can only memorize a beatmap that last for 1-2 minutes, but that's where the fun part begin.

Flashlight sometimes make me remember those horror games ._.

How would a Microsoft Comfort Mouse 3000 rank? It uses BlueTrack technology, but I can't recall how that stands against optical or laser...
djjsixpack
Takes too long to memorize a map, not as fun as other mods.
Sarthorious
It's just not exiting.. why would I play with FL and memorize all these fucking notes -.-.. A better thing would be learn kanjis xD
