Problem details:I don't know how to play, I've tried reading guides but they just detail things like how to get better or what you should use for your settings, I mean like how the fuck do you actually play this game? Like when do I use x and when do I use z? It's so fucking confusing

You can use either key for tapping, or change the settings to use any keys you want. You need two keys because there are some things called streams which are too fast to play with just one key.

Start by playing Easy difficulties and move on to harder things from there.

Yeah but I'm confused as to mechanics, like those balls and stuff, how do they work for example? It's really confusing

osu! is basically a rhythm game, you feel the beat. One of the great advice you can find is to listen to the beat, do not rely only on the visuals.
