Dots or numbers for hidden

There seems to be a lot of people saying Dot is better for hidden but there is a lot of people saying numbers are better according to my quick online search.

Can someone list the pros and cons of having dots instead of numbers? Thanks.

Dots: Could be less distracting(varies from player to player)
Numbers: Easier for stacked circles since you could tell how many circles there is to click. Could also be easier to follow with eyes.

Can't really think of anything else besides those, it's really a preference sort of thing.

Also, I don't think hidden affect this that much, it's still matter of preference.
