I've been confused when reading Ranking Criteria of osu! mode, because some words aren't understandable even if I look them up in a dictionary.
Let me suggest several words which should be explained in Gameplay (Glossary).

  1. Cross screen jump
I can't understand what type of jumps are regarded as "cross screen".
  2. Spaced stream
We just can suppose the meaning of "spaced".
  3. Spike
Frankly speaking, I don't know the meaning of this word in this usage at all.

All of those are in Difficulty-specific of Insane.

Sorry if this is because of my bad English skill.
How do you think?
abraker
Cross screen jump: A jump which spans a distance covering most of the field

Spaced stream: A stream consisting of notes spaced apart greater than the length of hitcircle diameter

Spike: A sharp increase followed be a sharp decrease soon after

I'm helped to know those meanings. thank you.

RC needs such explanation for people like me, doesn't it?
Those are undefined words except in some community of osu.

Yea I think adding these terms to the glossary would be helpful
I adjusted abraker's wording slightly to make it a bit clearer in my eyes

Cross screen jump: A jump which spans a distance covering most of the playfield
Spaced stream: A stream consisting of circles that are separated by spaces
Difficulty spike: A sharp increase in difficulty followed by a sharp decrease soon after

Can they be short sliders too?

They can, but it happens rarely. The definition of a regular stream is "Consecutive circles grouped together. Usually snapped to 1/4 beats." so using circles here too seems intuitive

alright sounds ok then

Spaced stream definition should be from both of your suggestion, "circles" instead of "notes", but "spaces" is too generic and a clear definition should be given as "apart greater than the length of hitcircle diameter" or "that do not overlaps [overlap is already defined in RC]".

Could as well give a definition for slider stream based on the definition of stream.

You're right, "spaces" is indeed generic, I just didn't know what else to use xd
But I think a separate definition for slider streams isn't needed as the principe is exactly the same as for circle streams so it should be clear what it is and the term isn't used anywhere in the RC
I guess the wording can be changed to this based on your suggestion:
Spaced stream: A stream consisting of circles that don't overlap each other
pishifat
added these, excluding the one for cross screen jump (it's literally a jump across the screen so i dont think clarifying helps at all?) https://github.com/ppy/osu-wiki/pull/2300
