Help with small issue

Im currently just making a skin for myself to have and use, i was browsing through other skins just for references and ideas. I came across one skin with something very specific that i would like to add but im not exactly sure how to do it? On the main interface at the bottom where it shows your profile, avatar, pp, etc... its usually a black background but on the skin i came across, it has a different background. ill link a picture of both my skin and the other one, would appreciate if someone could help me with it..

For this selection-options needs to have a semi transparent part where the user info is. Just take a look at the skin that has this background to se how exactly its done.

ive looked into it, but i still can't seem to really understand it.. Im fairly very new to skinning, OSU in general.. Any chance you could show or explain to me how its done correctly, or anyone else?

Take a look at this element:

Notice how it has a transparent part where the user info would be. With a black background it would look solid:
