A number of recent changes to the Star Rating and Performance Points system was just implemented, which you can read more about here.
Also, many inactive players may have been removed from the rankings, so naturally more active people will have gained ranks.

bc the changes on the new pp system, somepeople got lucky like you and me (I got 28k) and others got unlucky; plus what the dude in the post over mine said
p much every1 got lucky save a few, some luckier than others depending on how underranked they were before. I was extra lucky but I've seen people around where my pp was go up by way more than I did too
