Sorry in advance if this has been posted before...

I've recently reinstalled to Windows 8 (dual boot, I still have my old Windows 7 install), however in the process, I have not retained my favorites. Is there any way for me to copy the favorites over to my new Windows installation?

Have you tried to just copy your old osu! folder as it is?
Just skip the /songs/ cause afaik they don't contain the favorites list self.
But copying also the /songs/ folder should save your time in reobtaining all maps you had.

I can start the same osu! which has all the previous songs and settings already made from Windows 7, but the favorites do not appear. I think the favorites are stored in a separate folder to the osu! folder, maybe somewhere in the computer's user profile?

C:\Program Files (x86)\osu!\osu!.*username*.cfg
Copy that file and paste it in your new setup.

It contains the favorites with map ID's as shown below.

I haven't done this but I'm guessing it would work. Possibly you could just copy the text and paste it in your new cfg so you don't have to redo your settings.
