THIS IS NOT A MAP OR A TIMING
This is a tool (a reference, or a template) from which a timing can be created.

What this is are all the time signature and tempo changes in Between The Buried and Me's album Colors. I used Paul Waggoner's guitar transcription to make this, however the tablature is incorrect in many places tempo-wise and does not account for offsets between certain sections. So I went through the album acounting for those, as well as converting all of the time signatures the osu editor does not support.

I love Colors and would like to see the entirety of it mapped. I feel like this is the first step towards a proper timing. I intend on timing and mapping some of it eventually.

Mapping stuff
The reason I made this is because when timing variable BPM or songs with complex time signature changes, it is extremely easy to get lost and make mistakes in either timing, offset, or BPM, which snowball, and then everything gets jumbled. Having something you know is right as a reference simplifies the mapper's job substantially.

The majority of Colors is very quantized which allows for this kind of scaffolding to be used as a base for timings. However, creating an accurate timing from this upload will require treating many sections as variable BPM. Additionally, there are sections such as in Viridian's introduction and White Wall's outro which are entirely variable BPM. I have not timed these sections. I have just spaced them to account for average BPM between major tempo changes while preserving time signature structure.

This took a while to make. There were a lot of steps where I could have made mistakes. When I have time, I plan on making another pass to double check everything, as well as addressing my notes. I would also like to make a separate difficulty with timings for all the guitar solos, but that'll come later. I will be maintaining this upload on the side for as long as I am mapping.

VARIABLE BPM from 01:44:000

INFORMAL GLUTTONY
08:54:116
-dotted quarter = 125 at 6/8 + 9/8 as quarter = 187.5 at 3/4 and some change

09:25:289
-undocumented decrease in tempo, or increased offset (maybe a sloppy seam?)

VARIABLE BPM from 09:25:789
-it's documented as quarter = 200 at 4/4 until feed me fear, but don't believe Paul's lies
-quarter ~= 190 at 4/4

10:40:174
-dotted quarter = 130 at 12/8 as quarter = 195 at 6/4

12:11:216
-dotted quarter = 130 at 12/8 as quarter = 195 at 6/4

13:57:572
The guitars rest here. I don't have Blake's drum tabs. BPM changes seem right. Time signature is my best guess until sun of nothing.

SUN OF NOTHING
15:09:669
-documented as quarter = 200 at 3/8

18:10:569
-documented as quarter = 150 at 2/4, but this transition is kind of sloppy. I continued on a new offset.

19:06:085
-dotted quarter = 100 at 6/8 as quarter = 150 at 3/4

19:25:285
-time signature changes here are: 6/8 - 2/4 - 3/8 - 2/4 - 6/8 - 3/4

22:55:485
-undocumented increase in tempo; 120-> 125bpm

23:13:725
-undocumented increase in tempo; 125-> 130bpm

23:58:000
-A couple of things about this time:
-undocumented increase in tempo 130-> 135bpm
-The section prior's offset is off here, but the next section cleanly lines up with this time (my earlier offset is probably slow I need to fix this if I can find it).
-ANTS OF THE SKY STARTS HERE FIGHT ME

24:44:218
-dotted quarter = 120 at 6/8 as quarter = 180 at 3/4

25:04:212
-5/8

25:06:045
-3/8

25:09:545
-3/8

25:13:377
-7/8 Peppy more time signature options please

ANTS OF THE SKY
26:44:533
-dotted quarter = 90 at 6/8 as quarter = 135 at 3/4

28:04:532
-7/8

28:18:532
-11/16 Peppy for fucks sake

28:27:782
-3/8

28:28:532
-undocumented increase here; map as variable until 28:30:255
-the held note at the end of this arpegio is an eighth before the white tick btw. yeehaw.

28:55:855
-dotted quarter = 120 at 12/8 as quarter = 180 at 6/4

29:05:855
-9/8 12/8 repeating here (some 6/8 filler)

29:35:855
-12/8 here for a while

29:59:855
-9/8
-I timed it as increasing by the difference in time between this and the next section but it's more variable than that.

30:05:614
-new offset off that variable section prior (whatever timing you choose has to connect to this)
-dotted quarter = 130 at 12/8 as quarter = 195 at 6/4

30:44:383
-documented as quarter = 180 at 3/4, but it's definitely 190

32:07:812
-new offset after this hold

37:39:478
-dotted quarter = 90 at 6/8 as quarter = 135 at 3/4

PREQUEL TO THE SEQUEL
40:01:516
-4/4 and 7/8 alternating here

41:01:046
-dotted quarter = 130 at 6/8 as quarter = 195 at 3/4

41:25:969
-the book is all sorts of fucked here.
-it's dotted quarter = 120 to 110 to 100 to 90 over the course of 6/8, 3/8, 6/8
-but that's a fucking lie
-the bpm I have timed plays right, but the offsets are fucky.
-it could be because all the different parts are 'speaking' over each other at different bpms
-I'll double check this

43:22:892
-5/8 2/4 7/8 used a lot in this section, I'm not gonna write it all out here

43:47:142
-undocumented increase in tempo 120->125

46:11:200
-awfully seamy
-the book shows a steady tempo decrease but at the wrong bpm
-careful timing around here

46:34:938
-undocumented tempo increase

46:59:980
-more undocumented tempo changes. weird numbers but they line up so.

VIRIDIAN
-Spoilers, no click track/variable BPM for the intro
-sigh, the numbers were so pretty until now
-Paul has no conception of how long these rests are
-I'd have to double or triple BPM to represent all the measures he has transcribed
-this won't play well. too much variability.
-insert break until Briggs IMO and even then...

47:54:755
-Speaking of Briggs, the bass solo is going to need its own loosey goosey timing
-maybe I'll do it in another diff, with some other stuff like the guitar solos

49:20:088
-Here we go

WHITE WALLS
50:19:189
-undocumented tempo increase 135->140
-7/4, 2/4, 5/8

51:14:387
-dotted quarter = 150 at 6/8 as quarter = 225 at 3/4
-however it seems to be around 220 with an undocumented change in tempo at this point

52:11:366
-dotted quarter = 135 at 15/8 as quarter = 202.5 at 3/4 (because time signatures)

52:17:586
-sloppy

52:30:835
-they're late here

52:44:500
-this seems like a paste back into the click, since the timestamp is so clean
-the previous section is variable and will need to be timed carefully

53:26:900
-undocumented tempo decrease

54:50:913
-book says 135, but it's 140

59:03:532
-undocumented tempo decrease

59:06:732
-4/4, 1/8, 4/4 here

60:08:568
-book says 180 but it fucking lies

60:11:725
-now it's 180
-time signature changes for this section, I love this so much
-4/4 3/4 5/4 4/4 5/4 4/4 9/8 4/4 7/8 3/4 2/4

62:57:217
-dotted quarter = 90 at 6/8 as quarter = 135 at 3/4

63:21:217
-dotted quarter = 80 at 6/8 as quarter = 120 at 3/4

63:22:717
-dotted quarter = 70 at 6/8 as quarter = 105 at 3/4

63:21:217
-slow down is pretty variable

63:29:859
-outro is variable

How to take the timing points from this upload and put them in a new map
Delete the timing points before and after the section you would like to map.
Highlight all the timing points and move them to 0:0:0
Go into the map's OSU file and copy the points into your map.
You may have to adjust the collective offset to your audio file.

Also, I had to compress the hell out of the audio because it was failing to submit. DM me if you would like the audio, or if you plan on making a timing. I would be happy to help anyone with anything Between the Buried and Me.
