I've spent maybe 5 hours playing Osu Mania on 7k. I can easily do a 4k or 5k song (though getting good at 5k was quite an exhausting process), and can do a 6k with some practice. But I can only do 7k songs if they're 1 star. Is it usual for someone to be so bad at 7k after 5 hours?

As you increase the number of keys, it gets harder to read patterns. On top of that, when you're just starting out, the more keys you have to worry about, the longer it takes to reach the point where your reactions to notes become automatic. Don't worry about it. 5 hours is absolutely nothing.

In my case it was getting used to the space key as I play 5K with 3+2 keys combo, no spacebar. If you use spacebar in 5K, you might have a better learning curve towards 7K. Have fun!
