Hm, I think before getting recheck, you should wait for the mods from the challenge queue first.
I'll come mod this tomorrow, not sure about shikyu through.
Hi, here's my mod,
decide to copy how some mats post their mod[
General]
- Your custom hitsounds is much louder than the default whistle and soft-hitnormal which mean with your current volume setting. Whistle is barely audible and soft-hitnormal is practically silenced. I suggest lowering soft-hitclap, soft-hitclap2 and soft-hitwhistle2 by 2-3dBs. If you don't know how, you can use this http://puu.sh/xH6y. The custom hitsound volume are lowered by 2 decibels. After this, please increase the timing points volume by 5-10% so that the default hitsound is more audible. Since all the diffs are made by different mapper, some diff may not need to increase their hitsound volume, some diff may need to be increase by 20% so take this as general advice. If you disagree with this, I would like a good reason for this as the balance between the hitsound is off here (all notes without hitsound sound muted or muffled and all notes with custom clap and whistle, the opposite)
- Tick 2 sound good here, especially for Hard & Insane. Easy & Normal may be fine with slider tick (1) as they have a slower slider velocity and because of this, due to how clustered the slider tick will be, may look ugly. However, for the rest, it sound good so I recommend reconsidering this. If you didn't do because of inconsistency in slider ticks between diffs, there is no problem whatsoever with diffs having different slider ticks especially when it's a guest diff.
That's all
[
Easy]
- Timing points
- 00:43:988 - I find it weird that this has higher volume than the previous section because, pay attention to drum here, the drum intensity is much lower here and I feel that the volume should get higher at 00:51:363 instead so I recommend deleting 00:43:988 and adding 50% timing point at 00:51:363.
- 01:18:178 - All of your spinner has 50% volume, specifically 00:54:044 (1) & 00:16:502 (1) so I recommend doing it here too. This is not the main reason of course, 60% simply sound too loud so 50% seem better and more consistent with the rest of your beatmap.
- 01:26:223 - I recommend lowering the volume of this spinner as some part currently sound loud, specifically 01:27:061 - 01:27:731 and for the same reasons as above. So lower the volume of the whole spinner or just that part I mentioned if you want to try something interesting.
As mention in general, whistle sound too quiet compare to clap here, but you can't do anything about this yet unless the custom hitsund files is changed. However, when they are changed, I recommend increasing volume of all timing points by 10%.
- New combos
- 00:26:893 (4,1) - I would do new combo on (4) instead of (1). All of your combo here follows vocal perfectly and I find it weird this is the only one that isn't following vocal perfectly. 00:21:865 (1) - new vocal section, 00:24:547 (1) - new vocal section, 00:26:893 (4) - new vocal section, 00:29:575 (1) - new vocal section, see why I find this weird?
- Hitsound
Remember that I'm modding this with reduced volume claps, if you use the current claps, they may sound too loud and you may not want to add it so I recommend checking this once the custsom hitsound get replace.
- 00:13:821 (3,4) - Listen to drum sound here, the two hit circles are perfectly following this drum sound, so I recommend doing clap on these two notes. If you find it too loud, just put a timing point to lower the volume for these two notes, be sure to remove whistle.
- 00:14:994 (1) - Whistle sound nice at begin to emphasize the vocal, SA ki HO ga RE, capital are places where you should put hitsound and you put it on HO. You can't do anything for RE because it's a spinner, but you can for SA so I recommend doing this. Plus by doing this, it feel more natural to hit the note as it become much easier to listen to the audio feedback (when you hit a note, a hitsound play right? You can barely hear the soft-hitnormal, but whistle, you can hear it quite clearly so when you hit this, you know you've hit it without having to think too much about it so this is why it's nicer for gameplay).
- 00:21:865 - 00:41:977 - Clap on the 1st & 3rd white tick sound perfect here (don't put it on places where you put finish). Listen to the bass drum, it's playing every single white tick so putting on 2nd and 4th white tick doesn't matter at all. The reason why I want you to do this is, I hear drums in background, but I do not hear this being represent hitsound wise and it makes me feel like hitsound is too empty here. This'll definitely make it better.
- 00:31:754 (3) - Whistle sound good here for me for hihat and emphasizing vocal.
- 00:36:614 (4) - I guess I should mention this too to keep consistency with above, whistle at end for same reason as above. However, fine to me if not as I don't really like end of sliders to have whistle in general.
- 00:39:295 (4) - ^
- 00:43:988 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) - Better to me if you do clap with different volume instead like 30% for (2), 40% for (3), 30% for (5), 40% for (6) and etc. Not putting hitsound at all really sound off to the drums in music here.
- 00:50:022 (2) - Better to me with whistle at end instead. Yes, I'm aware of this being the same hitsound pattern as previous slider, but this one really just sound off. Listen to end of previous slider, you can hear vocal at end. Here, the vocal sing with the bass drum (1/2 earlier), this is why the clap doesn't sound as good anymore. Thus, I suggest whistle instead as the clap is quite a loud sound compare to soft
whistle. - 00:51:363 (1,2,3,4,5,6) - I would definitely put whistle for how the vocal sings here. I have two choices for you. Either put whistle on every places that doesn't have clap or, do clap > whistle > clap > whistle > clap > whistle. Both sound fine to me although I prefer clap > whistle > clap > whistle. The vocal sing in a really emphasized way here and I find it weird, you do not choose to represent this in anyway with hitsound. All you notes here follow vocal perfectly too. Would be more understandable if they weren't.
- 00:57:731 (2) - This sound is very similar to 00:22:871 (2) and where you put whistle in this section. I find it weird you don't have whistle here.
- 00:58:066 (3) - I guess put a whistle at end too, but I don't really like hitsound at end of slider, your choice
- 00:59:407 (1,2) - ^
- 01:07:117 (6) - I would do clap with maybe reduce volume for the vocal here, double (1/1 clap next to each other) clap sound nice here when drum and vocal is like this for me.
- 01:07:452 (1,2) - Same as 00:58:066.
- 01:11:139 (4) - Guess whistle here for same reason as 00:57:731. Didn't mention for (2) as there was a whistle on (1).
- 01:17:173 (3) - ^
- 01:17:508 (4) - Maybe do default clap with reduce volume at end.
- 01:23:541 (1) - Open hi hat at begin, since we don't have a custom open hi hat sound here, should do finish with reduce volume here.
- 01:25:552 (2) - Same as 01:17:508 or use the custom clap but with reduced volume.
As you can see, I find following sound in the music to be important as if you don't, when I hit the note I do not feel like I play that sound in the music (soft-hitnormal is almost inaudible here). The main problem is the lack of clap use to follow bass sound, but I assume this is because of the too loud custom hitsound so I hope you reconsider adding clap at the bass sound after they are replaced with a softer version.
- Placement & Rhythm
1 hp drain for balanced hp drain across the map, (Normal has 3, Hard has 5, Insane has 7, so if Easy hp drain is 1, this would be balanced).
- 00:20:525 (2) - This note isn't following anything! Also the song changes here, (1) & (2,3) are following different sound (one bell, the other drum) so to solve both problem, a repeating slider starting on (2) and ending on (3) would be nicer. A slider to be more forgiving on timing window, repeating slider to represent the drums / increase of intensity in music better (more hitsound playing, I suggest adding clap to the whole repeating slider to emphasize this even more).
- 00:33:932 (3) - Looking at the slider shape of (2), I expect a shape more like this http://puu.sh/xHIo. Basically, you curve (2) quite a bit, but you barely curve this slider. I think you should curve both slider by equal amount, this look nicer imo.
- 00:57:396 (1,2,3,4) - (1) is very hard to catch because you don't have a note at 00:57:061 plus it's after a spinner. I understand why you don't have a note at 00:57:061 so I suggest making the first note after spinner to be slider instead so this rhythm instead http://puu.sh/xHJI. I think this also fits better because the vocal at 00:58:066 sound more accented than previously so by doing hit circle, you are representing this.
- 01:22:201 (2) - same as 00:20:252, but this bother me a lot less.
The lack of use of clap on bass drum sound in music make hitsound empty for me. However, since I've read a reply to a mod post and you said that hit clap was too loud, I hope you put some clap where I mention once the custom hit clap is lowered volume. The map looks fine, the difficulty patterns didn't bother me and looking at how Normal is 4.2 stars, make sense for difficulty spread to me. Just consider the hitsound. Alternatively, if the custom clap wasn't change, you can put one yourself and changing N:C1 or N:C2 to a soft hitsound set so that you don't affect the other diffs and be able to make hitsound better.
[
Normal]
- Timing points
- 00:51:363 - I guess 45% volume here, this part sound louder than the previous parts to me so should be represented by slight increase in volume.
- 01:20:860 - 45% volume here too, nicer for me when kiai time has highest volume.
Hm, very minor change, but I think you should still do it as it doesn't take that long to add/adjust volume of timing points and it does follow the song a little better. Some people have really good ears so they may notice these subtle changes.
- New combos
No problems
- Hitsound
Remember that I'm modding this with reduced volume claps, if you use the current claps, they may sound too loud and you may not want to add it so I recommend checking this once the custsom hitsound get replace.
- 00:11:809 (2) - Follow closed hi hat, I would do whistle at begin
- 00:13:150 (4) - ^ + sound nice with vocal.
- 00:24:547 (1,2,3) - Go nice with vocal to me to have whistle at the begin of these sliders.
- 00:29:910 (1) - Clap at end, since the bass drum play every white tick here, you don't have to put it every 2nd and 4th white tick. It sound like something is missing at the end of this slider and by adding clap, this feeling goes away.
- 00:35:273 (1,2,3) - Same as 00:24:547. Also, I do not agree with no whistle on repeat of (3), that's the most accent note to me to be honest so I think whistle on the whole slide is nicer.
- 00:38:625 (3,4) - (4) and 00:36:446 (3) sound very similiar, so I think adding whistle on (4) would fit quite well. As for (3), if you follow above suggestion, then for consistency with 00:35:944 (2).
- 00:40:301 (1) - Again, similiar concept here, sound of this repeating slider and 00:37:620 (1) is very similar so I think you should add whistle and finish here like it.
- 00:41:139 (3) - Listen to the sound at 00:41:474, I can hear a high pitch sound so I think you should put whistle at end. I can also hear this sound at begin + vocal, so I think you should put at begin as well.
- 00:42:647 (5) - At repeat for same reason as above
- 00:44:323 (2) - I think finish fits better with your current hitsound volume.
- 00:45:664 (4) - ^
- 00:45:999 (1,2,3,4) - I understand why you want to do this (keeping clap on 2nd and 4th white tick), but like I've mention before, bass drum play on all white ticks so this doesn't matter and here, whistle sound great on the 2nd and 4th tick to follow that bell sound here. So clap at 1st and 3rd white tick for bass sound, and whistle at 2nd and 4th for bell sound.
- 00:49:854 (3) - I would do clap at begin and end for bass drum sound, or maybe just whistle.
- 00:53:876 (1) - Whistle on this sound nice with vocal.
- 00:56:726 - 01:18:178 - Whistle on every 1st and 3rd white tick sound great here (don't put when you have finish or another hitsound for example). I just notice this now, maybe you want to emphasize just the bell sound at 01:02:089 (1,2,3,4) for example so maybe you don't want to do this, but I still recommend doing this. Just when you get to those parts, to increase volume of those section, or just the whistle itself by 5-10% to differentiate it from the others.
- 01:06:279 (3) - Clap at end sound good for me. Reason can be found in Easy.
- 01:08:625 (3) - Whistle sound good with vocal here.
- 01:11:307 (3) - Whistle sound good with vocal here as well (begin & end). Not really sure what the lyric is, but when they say Time & Die, sound quite accented to me so whistle seems good.
- 01:17:508 (4) - Lead nicer to the spinner without the whistle at end. The easiest for me to explain this is that, if you were to map the spinner, you would put the finish on the white tick and if you have other hitsound just before that finish, the finish won't be as emphasize and won't have as much as an impact so same concept here.
- 01:21:530 (2) - Whistle at begin
Whistle sound really nice with vocal on red ticks here so I think should be used more. Also since your timing point volume is quite low probably due to how loud the clap is, adding more whistle would be nicer for playing as soft-hitnormal is barely audible at current volume. Whistle, althrough quite soft is much easier to hear.
- Placement & Rhythm
OD +1 please, Easy has 2, Hard has 6 so this would make it more balance, plus I think current difficulty setting is not good for difficulty jump to Hard and too close to Easy atm.
No problem with placement and rhythm to me, just that I prefer 1.2x distant snap because you use 1/2 rhythm, I felt the notes were too close together whenever you use 1/2 and it felt slightly weird for me. Not a major issue and no need to change anything, this map is nice as is.
[
Hard]
- Timing points
- 00:16:502 - Since this part isn't in kiai, I would prefer slightly lower volume here to reflect this.
- 00:20:692 - Don't understand why you did 40% from 65%, way too low imo. I suggest atleast 50% for this. Even 50% still feel too soft so even higher is better for me.
- 00:21:446 - ^, so either remove this timing point and have 50% on this as well or change to 60% volume and remove the next timing point.I prefer 60% to represent this whistle more as it's the loudest bell sound here.
- 00:43:318 - 40% / 50% volume here, drum becomes less intense here, imo, you should represent this with lower volume.
- 00:51:363 - Add a timing point with 50% / 55 % timing point here depending on what you did on above. Song become intense again, especially with how vocal sing here.
- 01:20:944 - Same as 00:16:502. My best suggestion is to change the volume of 00:11:139 to 70% so that every part in kiai has same volume and then do 65% for 01:20:944 and leave 00:16:502 as is.
I highly recommend following 00:20:692, the rest is just suggestion although I hope you consider them.
- New combos
Maybe I can mention some stuff, but new combo pattern work fine with your pattern and make sense to the music enough.
- Hitsound
- 00:13:150 (7) - Would like whistle here for vocal and hit circle.
- 00:16:670 (1) - There is bell sound at end so add whistle.
- 00:17:843 (1) - ^
- 00:19:184 (1) - ^
- 00:20:189 (4) - ^ at begin, to be honest I prefer if you follow just bell or just drum, whistle + clap doesn't good to me, but like this doesn't sound good either as I can hear two bell sounds and I find it weird one of the bell sound doesn't have whistle.
- 00:21:865 - 00:42:983 - You can definitely put whistle here. I'll just mention a few so you have some ideas.
- 00:22:368 (3) - Whistle
- 00:23:206 (7,8) - Whistle at begin of both
- 00:24:547 (1) - Whistle at begin and end
- 00:25:720 (3,5) - Whistle at begin of both
- 00:27:228 (1) - Whistle at begin and end
- 00:28:569 (5,6) - ^, alternative: Whistle at end of (4) and don't put on begin of (5).
- 00:29:910 (2) - Whistle at begin
- 00:30:580 (3) - Whistle at begin and end
- 00:31:754 (6) - Whistle at begin and the song repeats so most can be apply again.
- 00:43:988 (2) - Finish with reduce volume at end sound better to me than whistle.
- 00:45:329 (2) - ^
- 00:47:005 (4) - Since I've seen you put clap and whistle together before, I would add whistle here
- 00:47:675 (3,4) - ^ Begin of (3), end of (4)
- 00:49:687 (4) - ^ Begin
- 00:54:212 (2,3,4,6) - Whistle on the red ticks sound really good here, helps emphasize this part more as this part is quite emphasized music-wise.
- 00:56:726 - 01:18:178 - Whistle on every 1st and 3rd white tick sound great here, same suggestion given to the other diffs. Look at this note 00:58:737 (5), really feel like a whistle should be at begin, atleast for me. There are lot of other notes like this.
00:21:865 - 00:42:983 & 00:56:726 - 01:18:178 are highly recommended to follow, the rest is just suggestions.
- Placement & Rhythm
- 00:11:977 (2,3,4) - Prefer if you do repeating slider like 00:13:318 (1).
- 00:26:809 (6,7) - Prefer short slider instead, compressed stream doesn't feel that nice here and not for a Hard either especially when there is another stream just a few ticks away (this make me feel like saying do ar 8).
- 00:49:184 (2) - Even if you're following drum, this pause just feel weird as the sound on the white tick is more porminient than the drums imo. I can hear the vocal more clearly than the bass drum sound. Since you want to focus on the drum, I suggest slider instead starting here and ending on the white ticks. You're still focusing on drums, but you have atleast something to follow the music on the white tick.
- 00:53:374 (5,6,7) - Please snap these notes to higher spacing. 0.6x slider velocity > 1.0x and a 2.0x jump afterward. Current spacing doesn't lead up to this well at all.
Don't like 0.6x slowdown much, the apporach rate already feel too slow and with the slider velocity slowdown, it feel even more slow, but I really like the feel of the part at the 2nd kiai time. Really well done there. Well, just personal preference thing, the map is fine like this for rank.
[
Insane]
- Timing points
- 00:20:692 - If you use the custom hitsound I give you, this should definitely be increased in volume.
- 00:21:530 - I recommend starting the 60% timing point here, 40% is too low for this bell sound.
- 00:43:318 - 40% / 50% volume here, drum becomes less intense here, imo, you should represent this with lower volume. Same suggestion as Hard.
- 00:51:363 - Add a timing point with 50% / 55 % timing point here depending on what you did on above. Song become intense again, especially with how vocal sing here. Same suggestion as Hard.
- 00:53:876 - This spinner sound better to me at 50% volume.
You use 65% at 00:11:139 so I recommend you do the same for all timing points after and with 01:20:944.
- New combos
I'm not sure what you're following with your new combo, but it works fine with your pattern.
- Hitsound
- 00:11:809 (3) - Really cannot agree with this finish, whistle would work better. There is no cymbal in background here and vocal, while it is accented, it isn't accented that much for such a loud finish. If you really want to keep this finish, lower the volume of this finish, but whistle would sound best imo.
- 00:12:815 (2) - ^ Same reason here, whistle would fit on the repeat for hi hat than finish.
- 00:13:821 (1) - There is nothing playing in the music on the repeat here so remove the whistle on the repeat.
- 00:16:502 (1,2) - This applies for the entire section (all similar rhythm here). If you want to keep on the end of (1), put clap at begin of (2) to follow bass drum. If not, remove whistle from end of (1) and put on (2). This fits better with your rhythm as you have a hitsound on all slider begins. If you find the clap too loud, this is why I suggest lowering the volume of the custom hitsound.
- 00:21:865 - 00:42:983 - Whistle placement, read Hard, I think some of the suggestion can apply here. If not, read Normal for this part as well.
- 00:24:212 (5) - I guess I can understand your finish logic here, but it sound too loud, I suggest lowering the volume of this finish.
- 00:26:893 (3) - ^
- 00:28:904 (3) - I do not understand why finish for the bass drum here, should be clap.
- 00:34:938 (4) - Same as 00:24:212. I also find it weird you put clap with finish here, but not at previous section, exact same sound at both places.
- 00:37:620 (1) - ^ and no clap here :S, I think clap is a mistake on above then
- 00:40:301 (3) - ^
- 00:42:983 (5) - ^ Clap again :S I think whistle would sound nicer actually for bell.
- 00:44:994 (6) - Whistle at begin
- 00:48:011 (5) - Whistle at begin maybe? Also I suggest another whistle pattern in Vicho's Hard, maybe take a look at that (follow the bell sound here).
- 00:49:351 (2) - Would put whistle at begin if you do not follow bell sound for whistle.
- 00:50:189 (4,5) - Whistle at begin of both slider regardless of whether you follow bell sound or not.
- 00:53:374 (3) - If you want a finish, I would put on the next red tick but since you decide to start spinner, you can't. I find just clap work better here.
- 00:53:876 (1) - Don't put finish here or you lose the emphasize on the finish of 00:56:726 (1), do just a whistle instead. When you use lot of finish, it sort of become like a whistle, the whole point of using it to emphasize notes starts to go away so I suggest doing this instead.
- 00:58:737 (5) - There is no drum on the blue tick so don't put clap on it.
- 01:01:251 (2) - Whistle at begin
- 01:03:765 (4) - The finish sound too loud compare to the sound you're following, lower the volume of this finish.
- 01:09:547 (4) - No sound here, so don't put clap.
- 01:09:798 (6) - Same thing about the finish as before, clap alone sound fine to be honest.
- 01:11:139 (4) - Whistle to compensate for the missing clap for bass sound here.
- 01:15:497 (1,4) - Your custom whistle sound fine, finish just make the hitsound too loud.
- 01:18:849 (1,2,1) - No clap > whistle > clap > whistle alternation here? Clap on the white ticks, whistle on the red ticks.
- 01:20:525 (5) - Whistle on 2nd repeat.
- 01:23:541 (2) - Look at 00:13:821 (1), inconsistency. Would prefer just whistle here.
- 01:24:714 (1) - Remove finish, same reason as 01:15:497.
Well, notice quite a few inconsistency, but they don't really ruin the map. My problem is the finish, imo, follow Hard/Normal finish pattern and everything is fine for me. Also got confused when I start seeing whistle + clap + finish when you didn't do anything like this before. The best word to describe is overkill for hitsound. If you are keen on keeping the finish, I hope that you'll reduce the volume of the finish by a bit. Sorry if hitsound mod was a little lazy, hitsound mod is quite tiring and I believe the stuff I mention for other diffs can apply here, but the main thing to consider is finish.
- Placement & Rhythm
- 00:11:809 (3) - Mention again as the hitsound affect gameplay here for me. Recommend whistle over finish. When I see this finish, I expected a jump and not a note snap to this distant snap.
- 00:23:206 (1) - Current pattern doesn't lead to the jump well imo, try this http://puu.sh/xJlO
- 00:24:882 (3,1,3) - Better gameplay wise to remove whistle from the end to just focus on vocal.
- 00:34:435 (1,2,3,4) - I dislike how you didn't do jump here like 00:23:709 (2,3,4,5)
- 00:39:463 (10) - Play better to me if this were to be a jump as well.I hope you will consider this to flavor gameplay and not keeping your pattern as I notice 00:40:133 (2) is stacked at end. Try this maybe http://puu.sh/xJoL
- 00:40:301 (3) - As mention, when I hear this finish, I expected a bigger jump, please do clap or do jump on this.
- 00:57:731 (1) - Keep to the jump here, weird to go back to normal spacing again when the song is still continuing to be more intense. Hm, just an idea, try this http://puu.sh/xJqU
- 00:58:569 (4) - Increase spacing of this note if you do above.
- 01:00:748 (1) - Why end this slider on a blue tick, ending on white tick and having hit circle is much better for me hitsound wise. Since hitsound affect gameplay for me, this part plays a lot better when this is done.
- 01:24:547 (5) - Don't like this spacing much, feel better to me as a jump.
Try the map a few time, no real problems, the only thing holding this diff back imo is the hitsound.
Well that's my mod. Two issues. Easy hitsound sound too empty due to not following bass drum with clap & finish logic in Insane is weird to me. Also occasionally some weird clap and whistle doesn't always compliment the patterns well. Lastly, you should definitely consider reducing volume for the custom hitsound, Easy hitsound cannot be fix without doing this. I won't say too much as this is for challenge queue. However, if you reply to this mod / try to fix the stuff I mention, I'll give a higher score for this beatmap. Also, don't assume that because I give a long mod, your map is bad, I could give a long mod and really like your beatmap.
Good luck! Question about my mod is welcome and I don't mind rechecking just for maps in the challenge queue.
Edit: Probably some grammar mistake and mistyped word, sorry, really tired, mod like this take a really long time.
