how to put a background on beatmap?

new mapper, kinda stupid question but how do i put a bg on my map? cause ive tried putting a pic in the map folder, renaming it bg and it dont work.

drag and drop the BG into osu editor

it doesnt work because your .osu file didnt read the BG inside it just because you putting it there
