The sad thing is that the monitoring is used to put people into an awful position where they don't have the freedom to say or do what we take for granted. Even if you can say or do anything you could that isn't against the law without worrying the government going down on you, there is also the concern to how much of your data could leak to parties that shouldn't have it. I wouldn't be concerned about mass monitoring if it's not for these two factors.
There is a saying from somewhere, "You have nothing to hide if you are a good, law abiding citizen." Good stuff if you have no reputation or dignity to risk. What do you guys think?
