I guess you're using a resolution below 800px height?
In that case you need to downscale all these images (make them half their size and remove the @2x ending) or you could open your "osu![heres your PC account name].cfg" file and set HighResolution to 1. This will force your osu to use @2x files over non-@2x files. This may be a problem if you have a potato PC, in that case you will need to use the option above.

Great to hear that. From now on Osu should use HD images if available over SD images, which means that you can e.g. DL even HD only skins now.
