so I checked on the beatmap's leaderboard and it said there that I got 14 pp from that song but when I checked on my profile, I only got 1? This happens all the time. Why is this happening??

PP is weighted. Whenever you set a new play, everything below that play is now worth less PP. As a result, you gain that 14 PP, but in turn you lose 13 PP because of the weighting system.
It's to prevent people from just setting say 100PP plays over and over again and getting 100PP added every time. The weighting system forces you to eventually play harder maps if you want more PP.
