20:35 ACOMG: hello from your modding queue!
20:35 ACOMG: my favourite music genre is anime
20:36 ACOMG: here's the map https://osu.ppy.sh/s/754300
20:36 Xayler: hello
20:36 ACOMG: hi
20:36 Xayler: I guess you want me to check the Insane diff?
20:37 ACOMG: yup
20:38 Xayler: I'll get to it in few mins
20:38 ACOMG: i think it is far from rankable...but i think a general direction of how to make it rankable would help a lot
20:38 ACOMG: thx
20:47 Xayler: alright
20:48 ACOMG: (listening)
20:49 Xayler: so the first thing is exactly in the beginning and it's spacing
20:49 Xayler: 00:00:090 (1,2,3,4,5) - the intensity of the melody is pretty much the same, but the spacing varies here a lot, which shouldn't vary that much
20:50 Xayler: pattern overall is pretty decent here, but spacing doesn't make much sense
20:51 Xayler: maybe ctrl+g for 00:00:738 (3) - this slider would make it somewhat better
20:52 Xayler: 00:01:306 - here's a pretty loud drum what ideally should be mapped
20:54 Xayler: 00:06:738 (2,5) - I'd try to avoid also these kind of overlaps and maybe put 5 on top of 2 instead, makes overall better to look at the map
20:54 ACOMG: so stack 2 and 5?
20:56 Xayler: it would be the easiest thing yep
20:56 Xayler: 00:07:711 (5,3) - would avoid that overlap here again by moving 3 away or in a different place instead
20:56 ACOMG: 00:09:008 (3,4,5) - then i find these completely messed off
20:57 Xayler: they aren't very good to play
20:57 Xayler: especially from 3 to 4
20:57 Xayler: the angle is against here
20:58 Xayler: 00:14:846 (3,5) - would stack these as well
20:59 Xayler: 00:18:252 (1,1,1) - and these spinners are way too fast
20:59 Xayler: would just put something else here
20:59 ACOMG: 00:09:008 (3,4,5) - The angle is bad, how about the pattern?
20:59 Xayler: well spacing is certainly too much here
20:59 ACOMG: or the rhythm, is it appropriate to emphasize the vocal like that, the first time i try this type of rhythm
21:00 Xayler: but idk about pattern as there are just sliders which could emphasize the sounds a bit better
21:01 Xayler: rhythm is nice
21:01 Xayler: as you focus on vocals here
21:01 Xayler: which should be fine
21:02 ACOMG: yup, and probably focus on drum/guitar in harder diff
21:02 Xayler: 00:10:468 (1,2,3,4) - here though
21:02 Xayler: I'd remove 00:10:792 (2) - and but circle 00:10:792 - here + slider 00:10:954 - here
21:02 Xayler: putÕ
21:02 Xayler: put* damn
21:03 Xayler: so would remove 00:11:117 (3) - that as well
21:03 Xayler: 1/1 slider would do fine to emphasize that vocal
21:04 ACOMG: here i emphasized the drum
21:04 ACOMG: as i feel the intensity is increasing, plus that to pave way for the stream afterward
21:05 Xayler: well then circles would do fine as jumps, sliders are meh
21:05 ACOMG: ok i'll try
21:06 Xayler: and overall you use too high slider velocity imo
21:06 Xayler: song is already 185 bpm so 2x overall is pretty high
21:07 Xayler: you use multipliers of 2,5x as well 00:22:468 (4) - here and etc which don't really make sense
21:07 Xayler: it's just too fast
21:07 ACOMG: full beat slider here right?
21:07 ACOMG: 00:10:954 (3)
21:08 Xayler: 1/1 means yeah = either from white tick to white or from red tick to red tick
21:08 Xayler: you can try it and you should already see the difference
21:09 Xayler: 00:26:846 (2,3,4,1,3) - would cleanup the overlaps here as well
21:10 Xayler: either make them with some logic or just try to not do them
21:11 Xayler: 00:28:306 - here's also a 1/4 drum (white tick, blue tick, etc) which should be mapped imo as a stream or kickslider
21:11 ACOMG: what do you mean the logic?
21:11 Xayler: well I mean that the overlaps have thought behind them, not just completely random
21:12 Xayler: if the same overlaps are used in the whole difficulty, then it's seen and it would be fine
21:12 ACOMG: i dont intend to overlap...so i better find way not to overlap
21:14 ACOMG: 00:02:035 (1,2,3,4,5) - do you think i should blanklet them with 00:01:711 (9)?
21:16 Xayler: blanket isn't really mandatory
21:16 Xayler: it works fine like this as well
21:16 Xayler: if you would blanket everything then it would limit your mapping
21:17 ACOMG: ok
21:17 Xayler: just some tips to keep in mind
21:20 Xayler: but I'd recommend to map something more classic anime as this song seems pretty random me as a 1st map imo
21:20 Xayler: random to me*
21:22 Xayler: anyways I guess that I gave the tips now, I did similar maps back then so it's normal
21:22 ACOMG: something like bpm 160 and the drum beat never change?
21:23 Xayler: but would recommend to apply to next cycle of mentorship program as a mentee
21:23 Xayler: well overall it's your choice what you like, just it's better to start from a general anime song than more complex or random one
21:24 ACOMG: oh i never heard of this mentorship program
21:24 ACOMG: when will the next cycle be held?
21:24 Xayler: many haven't, but it's good to know and it should be in the forum somewhere
21:25 ACOMG: ok i'll go find it later
21:25 Xayler: t/689250
21:25 Xayler: is the spring one
21:26 Xayler: for next cycle: Mentee sign-ups start on 22.04.2018 and end on 02.05.2018.
21:26 Xayler: so roughly a month
21:26 ACOMG: i'll mark it then
21:26 ACOMG: thank you very much!
21:27 Xayler: np, I'll post it in your maps thread then with a savelog
21:27 Xayler: not in modding v2 thread, but mv1 one
21:27 ACOMG: you mean the mod given here?
21:28 Xayler: yep, that's the IRC modding
21:28 Xayler: I post the log what we talked
