Hi. Just passing by.

I saw this song beatmapped, and well, it's one of my favorite openings in One Piece, so I said let's check it out!
...I was a bit disappointed though.

The beatmap structure and the patterns are pretty nice, built in a very clean way, and it's nice to play. But, as a song I like, I think the beatmap is dull, more than anything... it didn't satisfy me. The beatmap is boring, and pretty easy too - FC'd Insane on the first try, and that's too much coming from me.

I think the main problem is that the beatmap doesn't diverge much into the lyrics. Follow the lyrics more closely! To make the map unique to the song, you'd usually map to the most unique element in the song, which is in most cases the lyrics! It makes more sense than mapping to the background beat all the time.

Since the map doesn't follow the lyrics, as a result you use a lot of 1/2 beats:



It's understandable, since 1/4 would be way too much, but... this is pretty boring, too.
Hitsounds don't help either - it's mostly claps on every second white tick. I understand using hitsounds isn't an easy task, since you can go wrong very easily, but they're also a very important element to the map.

Another useful tip: don't resort to triples to increase the difficulty! (I'd say they actually make things easier in this case :P)



Triples can sometimes, although very rarely, make sense - but these triples don't follow anything in the song! Insane difficulties usually get their difficulty thanks to jumps or streams, depending on the song - in this case, I'd use jumps more than anything, since streams would be overmapping it. But, above anything else, use jumps or streams wisely!

Well, I didn't do a complete mod, but the beatmap in this state... I wouldn't feel comfortable ranking it. As a song I like, I would have been happy to be the one to rank it, but I changed my mind after giving it a quick testplay. I'm not going to burst the bubble either though.

Oh and by the way, nice spoilers on the first post >.> (I wasn't spoiled, I'm watching the new episodes weekly, but other people must have been spoiled...)

Ok, let's see ...
  1. I don't think that following the lyrics is a very nice idea, at least not with every difficulty because it's hard to follow (you have to hit more accurately) also personally I just don't like to follow lyrics that much
  2. Following lyrics seems more like your style which is not my style, this is my style of mapping, this is how I map, this is what I like (sorry if I sound rude). However, I played/tested your map and it was pretty nice, I think I will consider some of the tips of following the lyrics but not that much, I just don't like it
  3. You say that following lyrics make more sense when mapping but ... not for me, not that much, sorry. Yes, it's good to do so, but there are different kinds of mappers, me, personally I don't like to do it that much
  4. For the hitsounds ... I like to use that pattern, patterns make me feel good, I can try to use more whistles ... I guess. Would that make it ?
  5. I like my streams ... ok, I will change it ... ok
  6. About the spoilers ..................................................... I wanted to give some criticism to the map - perhaps you're right, following the lyrics closely it's sort of my style, so I shouldn't enforce it as much. Still, it's nice to see you're going through the trouble of remapping to make the beatmap more interesting. Keep it up! :)

About the hitsounds, as much as I try I can't give general tips on how to do them. I don't know, it's hard to explain - on my maps I just listen and put them, it's like an instinct. I guess if you aren't satisfied with any other hitsounds you use, it's not wrong to use the same clap pattern. I still suggest you to experiment with them though.

(also, don't take the spoilers comment too seriously ;p)

Hola lovhin no se si te intere pero debido a los nuevos cambios de peppy con los BGs , con lo que crecen el Taiko BG no encaja bien , asi que decidi arreglarlo para ti. Si deseas aqui esta el Taiko BG con las dimensiones correctas con el nuevo ajuste de peppy .

PD : Modeare tu mapa uno de estos dias :oops:

  1. 00:08:380 (3) - I don't like the way this slider is placed, it's the same as the previous one. The direction of the slider (2) goes at the left when you need to go at the right, it can be confusing for some and the flow is broken. I suggest you to move these objects somewhere else. Oh also, the slider (2,3) are not symmetric.
  2. 00:28:380 (1) - This slider makes some kind of weird overlaps with the two previous circles. Can you move this slider somewhere else to avoid this overlap?
  3. 00:32:380 (1) - It looks like this circle can be hidden by the previous slider's burst. I think you should move this circle so it won't be stacked with the slider and won't be hidden by it.
  4. 00:34:880 (5,1) - These sliders are going offscreen! Move them somewhere else. It's unrankable to have off-screens objects:
  5. 00:44:380 (1) - I personally don't suggest to have stacked notes on an Easy difficulty. Some beginners can be confused by this stack.
  6. 00:56:880 (2) - This slider is obviously not symmetric. I suggest you to fix it, it will look better if it's symmetric. To fix it: Move the second node one grid up and the last node, one grid at the left.
  7. 01:03:380 (2,3) - Like said two points above.
  8. 01:59:880 (3) - Same like this one ^, but actually, this circle is placed right at the end of the slider, which is worse. The burst can hide the circle and yeah..

This difficulty has completely nothing wrong. Just these two hitsounds inconsistencies.

  1. 00:10:880 (3) - For here, you could do like Insane by adding a new combo. It will be more consistent with your difficulties
  2. 00:34:380 (1) - You could make a better blanket here, it would look a bit better; (of course, if you do like the picture below, make sure the spacing is consistent after it!~)
  3. 00:45:380 (4,5) - Since these are stacked, can you move them some grids up? Right now, these objects are overlapping one of the previous sliders (00:44:380 (2) - ). by moving it, it will avoid the stack.
  4. 01:26:130 (1) - Actually, this two-reversed slider should have only one reverse arrow. It will be consistent with one of the sliders at the beginning: 00:26:380 (7) -
  5. 01:28:630 (6) - That's just an opinion: With this slider, you could be able to stack the end of the slider with the previous slider (3). But you surely have a reason why it isn't like that, so I will just keep it here.
  6. 02:13:880 - Forgot to add a clap here?

  1. 00:08:130 (1) - This slider looks symmetrical and I think you should make it symmetrical, so it will look better. You can fix it easily by moving it a bit and reshape it a bit. Well, to fix it, move the second and last node one grid at the right and then, make it centered.
  2. 00:10:380 (3) - I don't know how to explain that but, this circle should have been one grid at the right, so if you stack it with the previous circle and do Ctrl+H, it will go at the same place. (The next suggestion is related with this one)
  3. 00:10:880 (1,2,3,4) - One of these {(1,2) (3,4)} aren't proportional with the previous circles (look on the spoilerbox for more information). So actually, to make them proportional, highlight these objects and move them one grid at the left. It's like what I said above. Actually, you copy/paste the objects (1,2) and did a Ctrl+H, to make it symmetrical, I guess. But since the previous circles are not "symmetrical", it won't have the same proportion.
  4. 00:27:880 (5) - This circle is not making a great flow with the previous objects. To be honest, you should maybe move it at around x:0 y:172, so the previous slider will be able to catch this circle easily and then, it continue with the next objects.
  5. 00:40:755 (x) - With the vocal, it sounds like there's missing a word here and I think you should add a circle here to emphasize it. I suggest you to add it to x:368 y:28, so it will be between the next and the previous slider. Of course, there will be a jump, but do Ctrl+G, the slider will be reversed, so there won't be any jumps.
  6. 00:41:880 (5) - Forgot to add a clap here? Actually, I think you do. If not, you should add a clap here to keep the consistency with your upbeats sounds.
  7. 01:07:130 - Like said some suggestions above, it should emphasize the vocal. But actually, there's a slider at this place, and you should have added something to 01:07:255, so it could emphasize the vocals. I suggest you to make the slider shorter, so it could start at 01:07:255 and finish at 01:07:630. After that, stack a circle to the slider, at the same place where the slider was before (01:07:130). By doing this, the vocals will be followed;
  8. 01:23:380 (3,4,5,6,7) - Just a point of view, wouldn't it flows better if these objects were placed that way?
