I’ve been mulling this idea over for a while. It’s time to give it a trial run.

Map Draft is a 3v3 team tournament with teams of up to 5 players, where maps are drafted pre-emptively (similar to how popular mobas handle hero lineup drafts) rather than reactively (as almost all tournaments do it currently).

Instead of individual matches, sets will be used. Sets are all Best of 7, and matches will range from Best of 1 Set in Groups to Best of 5 Sets in Grand Finals.

WARNING: Matches in this tournament, especially at later stages, will be long. To smoothen and quicken the experience, rules and timings will be strictly followed, which means no stalling and no time wasting. Thank you for your cooperation.

Signup Rules:
Teams can be anywhere from 3 to 5 players.
Tournament staff members are NOT allowed to play, with the exception of Commentators.
Teams are seeded by the average pp of the top 3 members. The 16 highest seeded teams will play in the tournament. In the event of less teams signing up, byes will be included in the first round.
Players are required to join the discord so that they are contactable by other players and staff. If a player can’t be contacted or is not responding to messages, through discord or forum pms, contact the tournament staff.

Set/Match Rules:
Pre-Match
If a team is unable to play at the scheduled time, they should seek the other team's captain and agree on a new time. More rules on this in the Rescheduling Rules box.
If 10 minutes pass since the start of a Set and a team fails to have at least 3 players present and ready to play, that team will forfeit the Set.

During Match
There will be no warmups.
All matches will use Score v2 and Team vs.
Mappool size will be 8 Nomod, 4 Hidden, 4 Hard Rock, 4 Double Time, 4 Freemod and 1 Tiebreaker throughout the tournament.
Freemod requires one HR and one HD per team. These can both be on the same player if the team so chooses. If a map starts and a team is missing one or both of these mods, the top one or two scores will be ignored, respectively.
Freemod will be enabled on the tiebreaker map. Mods are not mandatory on the tiebreaker.
The referee is not to participate in the match.
Rematches of a map will happen in the event of software or hardware failure, or when a player disconnects unintentionally who would have otherwise potentially won the map for their team. The final say on rematches goes to the referee of the match.
Any other unexpected happenings are handled at the moderating party's discretion.
If a referee is unsure on how to proceed, tournament admins are to be contacted for a resolution.

Rescheduling Rules:

The tournament matches will be scheduled for weekends, the exact schedule to be released every Monday. However, matches can be rescheduled for any day in the week as long as both teams agree and there is a referee available to supervise.

If you need to reschedule your match, please agree a time with your opponents before coming to the hosts with it.

A time to reschedule your match to must be agreed and staff informed before 12:00UTC Friday, at which point the schedules will be locked. Any reschedule notices after this will be invalid and the original time will stand.

If it is impossible to find a time to reschedule to that suits both teams, both captains should talk to the same staff member and we will attempt to sort something out.

Potential matches that are uncertain to happen (for example, losers’ bracket matches) will still appear on the schedule. They are to be rescheduled if needed in the same way as confirmed matches.

If a match is being rescheduled to a time after a related potential match, the matches that rely on the outcome of the rescheduled match will be rescheduled by staff and 24 hours will be given to reschedule them if needed.

Now here’s the fun part.

Set/Match Progression:
Set Progression
Sets will follow a set progression and could take anywhere from 15 to 50 minutes to complete.

Bans and Picks have a 60 second timer, which if exceeded will result in either no map being banned or a random map being picked (using !roll x, where x is the amount of maps still available to pick).

At the start of the match, the captain and 2 players from each team join the lobby. After this, the players are not required to stay for the Draft phase, they are only required to confirm the team has at least 3 players ready to play.

The Draft phase (Banning and Picking) then proceeds as follows:

The maps that were picked are then played in the order they were picked back to back until a winner is found or until all maps are played, in which case the tiebreaker will be played and a winner found.

Each team has 90 seconds per map to swap players in and out and ready up. This will be achieved using !mp start 90 rather than !mp timer 90, which means the match will start regardless of whether you have a full team in the lobby or not.

Match Progression
Matches in Round of 16 and all the way through the losers’ bracket (excluding the final) will be Best of 1 Set. Team captains will !roll at the start of the Set, and the team with the higher roll becomes Team 1 and starts by banning a map. A Best of 1 Set match could last anywhere between 25 minutes to 1 hour.

Matches from Quarterfinals to Finals, as well as Losers’ Finals, are Best of 3 Sets. The team in slot A will be Team 1 for Set 1, and the team in slot B will be Team 1 for Set 2. If the match goes to Set 3, Team captains will !roll at the start of the Set, and the team with the higher roll becomes Team 1 and starts by banning a map. There will be a 5 minute break between each Set. A Best of 3 Set match could last anywhere between 1 hour to 3 hours.

The Grand Final will be a Best of 5 Sets match, with the team coming from the Winners’ Final gaining a Set advantage and starting 1-0 up. The team in slot A will start as Team 1 for Set 1, and will swap each subsequent set. There will be a 5 minute break between each Set. The Grand Final could last anywhere between 1 hour to 4 hours.
