I am having some very distracting audio stutters (if that's the proper term for this issue?) that I can't seem to fix. I've tried a handful of different things and haven't been able to find any solution. Every second or so during any song I play on OSU, there is a very awful sounding white noise/static sounding that occurs. I've tried many different settings in OSU, nvidia control panel, double checked GPU and sound drivers to make sure they were up to date, restarted computer, uninstalled and reinstalled OSU, all to no success.

I'm not sure where to find the latest version, but I just did a fresh install and am playing on the "Stable (Latest)". I also tried using Fallback and Cutting Edge, however that still did not fix it.

Are you using a USB headset?

Try disabling surround sound if you use that at all.

I am using a USB headset. I'm not sure how to check if surround is enabled or disabled. I'm using HyperX Cloud 2. I do believe it is disabled, but I'm not positive.

Disable any audio enhancements and also disable surround sound on your headset.

All enhancements are disabled, as well as "Disable all enhancements" is checked on. The surround button is also disabled, but the issue persists.

Download this software and run it while playing.

Post your results from the Main, Processes and Driver tabs.

Is there anything in particular you need to see on the Processes and Driver tabs? the list would take a handful of screenshots.

What Nvidia GPU do you have?

GTX 1070. CPU is i7 4790k, and using 16GB RAM.

Go into the Nvidia driver global settings and change the power setting to "Maximum Performance".

Are you using a fresh install of Windows, have you recently updated your Video Drivers?

think that's what you mean right? was already set to that

What driver version are you using?

Try disabling game mode and game bar in Windows 10 Control Panel/Settings.

388.00. It was happening on the previous driver version as well, which is why I updated to this one.

Disable Recording and Game Mode.

Sorry, I'm having trouble locating Game bar settings. It's under control panel?

I don't seem to have that setting.

Change the power option in Windows Settings/Control Panel to High Performance before trying the next step.

You can also try disable speed-step and turbo boost in your motherboard UEFI/BIOS.

Oh yeah uhh... Try playing in Fullscreen.

Last resorts:

You oughta update Windows to the latest running build.

I suppose you could try uninstalling your Nvidia drivers with DDU and then installing the latest again...?

Already set to high performance. Not sure if speedstep is on or off right now. I do also play in Fullscreen. I could try to update windows and see if that does anything, and could try reinstalling GPU driver.

How many USB devices are you using?

Did you upgrade to Windows 10 or fresh install?

5 currently. Upgraded to 10 from 7.

I'm fairly sure that the issue involves your operating system version and the Nvidia driver although the issue could be multiple things...

Try playing in Borderless Fullscreen, make sure to monitor the DPC latency with LatencyMon while playing and post the results.

Type System Configuration into Start>Search and select Diagnostic Startup then restart and try to play osu with LatencyMon in the background with no other applications open. Try this with Fullscreen and Borderless Fullscreen, post the results from each tab.

Do you use multiple displays?

Does your motherboard come with inbuilt Wi-Fi for INTERNET ACCESS...

Try moving your headset to another USB port and are you using any older USB devices?

Are there any applications or background processes that may be negatively interacting with the Nvidia driver?

You know what... Disable GeForce Experience...

Tried 3 different USB ports for my headset but the issue persists. I do use 2 monitors. I have tried disabling the other monitor, but that hasn't done anything. Have attempted restarting my computer as well, but that hasn't fixed it either. Inbuilt wireless for what exactly? Sorry. And I'm not sure if there are any background processes interacting with Nvidia. I've tried playing with every single thing except OSU closed and the issue persists.

Alright will do, need a bit to do all that.

Restarted with diagnostic startup but audio would not start up even when selecting it. Not really sure what to do at this point. OSU is the only game I'm experiencing any issues with.

Select Selective Startup.

Disable all Startup applications in Task Manager, most of everything in that tab can and should be disabled if you want to properly test it.

Also disable all non-Microsoft services in System Configuration, check "Hide all Microsoft Services".

Could you have any applications that use an unusually high amount of CPU usage? Maybe you just need to properly update Windows, it could be a driver conflict with your OS version. There used to be major DPC latency issues with the older Nvidia drivers pre-creators update so that may be a cause.

It's getting pretty late and need to get some sleep, I'll have to try tomorrow. I appreciate all the help, thank you very much!

Edit: Fixed! I uninstalled Razer Synapse (had a razer headset a while ago and returned it pretty shortly after getting it. never uninstalled razer synapse) which apparently was causing the interference and screwing up the audio. Thanks again for all the help!
