I think if it were to be added, the user's username should be colour either pink or blue, and for supporters it would be bolded.
In game chat of course it would take no effect.

That is just unnecessary... this is a rhythm game, not a dating website. gender is completely irrelevant

But how else am I supposed to avoid the public ridicule and embarrassment upon using the wrong pronoun on a user? Furthermore, you could say that the location field is just as useless for a rhythm game, so I'm going to work under the assumption that we have the potential to expand to dating services in the near future.

I support this, but no need to add anything more than a gender symbol in your profile. And maybe make it so you can only set your gender once.

Yeah, since people seem to think this kind of joke would be an issue. I personally don't mind, but that's a way to prevent it I guess.

tbh the request sounds more like "lets force people to have their gender shown". If you give people an option to have it on or not, there's no difference with the way the profile works right now (just write your gender on any boxes you want on your profile and such). So I think this feature wouldn't change anything pretty much.


P.S. Country being shown is actually really important, specially for a global game like osu!. How are we going to start a conversation with other people if you aren't sure which language the person speaks?

I'm going to give this a support because this should be exist as well. If you're male and got a female character in your current avatar on your profile, they'll think that you're a girl, but when you discover your RL picture, then they just notice that you're actually a boy. For a female, a opposite way.

This must be added...

BTW, I just changed from my Rin Tohsaka avatar to my own character icon.

I made some ideas of how this works. I edited my thoughts of how this gonna be added (I used MS Paint actually...).






I found the ones are can fit next to the flags hopefully.

If y'all don't like that design, than let's find the best one that can fit.

But in-game, the edge lines are gonna be blue or pink on my opinion. Blue will be male, and pink will be female.

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be added, because it's the important thing we need on all online gaming sites.

... People actually care what gender a person is?

It would just be an influx of prepubescents reacting with crap like, "LOL GUYS I'M TALKING TO A GIRL!"

Gender doesn't change or alter how their personality is and most of the time people generally don't disclose their sex, age or other information that is currently available for displaying anyhow.

If you're that desperate to find out what gender a person is why don't you just ask them after you've been chatting with them for a while since then the awkward barriers should be down by then and a question of that regard wouldn't be considered as anything but just a randdom bit of interest being expressed.

This of course does beg to differ between people but most don't just instantly flip their attitude towards another just because they found out the person was a guy or girl.

If it does, then that person is a hopeless case and that is just sad.

I wanted to post a reason for how silly this "feature" request is, but then ampzz went and said it. :c

I doubt people really give a shite as to whether a user is male, female or hermaphroditic. You'd have to be quite daft to support this.

Why is it important to have gender signs on osu!...

  1. 80% of osu! players wonder it's a boy or a girl.
  2. 80% of osu male plays are mistaken a girl because of a female character on their current avatar
  3. It's really disrespectful of mistaking 50% of males for a girl while chatting.
  4. If it's not added/approved, the whole game will be in a embarrassing situation.
We gotta keep giving supports on this feature...

I think it is better if you just ask him/her/alien. If someone ask me, I will tell him/her the truth. Or just take same time and click to reach my facebook from this post (this is the truth, just a few click 2). So I don't think this is really necessary. o.o
